4thgen rear with new gears helped for power.
I finally got a 4thgen lt1 rear in the car.my 9 bolt had to of been robbing me of serious power and causing false knock from driveline vibration. I can say switching between 3.27 gear to 3.42 I feel the car is much easier to city drive..and make boost easier.Sucks i wont get to see what power im at now on my current setup but come spring Ill have a few more upgrades before my next dyno video.I still gotta put in my 450 intank pump and plumb new fuel lines.Redo my cold side piping to prevent less boost leaks.Front ls1 brake kit and then Ill be out hunting hellcats and shelbys again.

If you strap to a dyno then you are going to be disappointed with a loss of Horsepower after switching to higher ratio gears.
In reality, your engine still makes the same horsepower it did before the gear swap. Nothing changed except the profile of wheel Torque vs. MPH.

Yes i know that but Im referring to how much that 9 bolt was starting to lock up causing drag and holding the motor back from putting power down.It was starting to struggle to rev up more and more.Especially once the grinding crunching noises started..and the obnoxious howling.

Re: 4thgen rear with new gears helped for power.
So im finally scheduled for a dyno session on friday.Ive tried my best to have everything ready to go.Got the rearend in and sorted.Removed the stock fuel lines and ran all new feed/return lines and aeromotive regulator. Also switched the fuel pump from my 255 to a 450 walbro.Fresh oil, washed my air filter, installed new intake gaskets and attemtped to diagnose my knock 1 sensor trouble code for low circuit and i think the sensor is faulty and looks rather old.Ordered 2 new sesnors and harness since these are very common problems and id rather replace all three than keep removing the intake.Fresh o2 sensors and a half tank of c16.Im praying nothing jumps out at me and i can lay some good numbers and make this thing run hard.If all goes well after the tune then its time to work on my next biggest issue..Floor replacement and ls1 front brakes need to go on before spring. Then Im done for modding further and focus on making the car look and feel solid again body/paint and suspension upkeep. Wish me luck.

Got through some tuning today..not as much as I was hoping to run since my cat is pretty clogged from my previous blown motor but happy to report that with less boost Im making 10whp less than last yr but making more torque and only revved to 6000rpm. Boost drops pretty good after 5500 by almost 5psi.time to get rid of that single hi flow 3" cat and hollow it out.
