08-09 Tahoe 6.0 good or bad engine. Help please

Found a 6.0 on Craigslist from a 08-09 Tahoe with 65k complete asking 2,300$. Has the 243 heads. With that said I have found that these year tahoe engines had a problem. " #Pip4525a " http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threa...bearing.55799/ . Anyone know if this is a motor I should stay away from or get it for a 1970 swap? Been loosing sleep over this deal help me ha-ha

That is an all aluminum LFA engine with 243 heads. Basically an LS2 with a truck intake and different CAM. That engine won't have any more or less issues than any other GM LS motor. There aren't any unique parts on that engine that aren't shared on other LS platforms. It has a 58x reluctor wheel and should have the front 3x cam sensor on the timing cover. You can treat this as any other gen IV LS Engine. Not a bad buy for the price.

24X engines are harder to find with low miles, but they are easier to swap. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have bought a 2010 5.3L engine. The 58x, DOD, and VVT were challenges that I had to address.

A buddy of mine bought an 02 camaro, LS1/T56 with under 100,000mi on it for $5000 cdn (much less for you guys).
Car was pretty mint, lots of extra parts, and since he is putting it in his E30, I have first dibs on the 10bolt that was built with an auburn diff, and tubular rear suspension parts.
It has kooks long tubes, LM1 exhaust, strut tower brace, some intake mods, etc etc.

He will part the car out, and make a fair chunk of his money back... I did my swap cheap, his will be even cheaper in the end, but he has been looking for a driveline for a year to find this deal.

How do the 24x engines differ from the 58x engines....I'm not to the LS game so this is all new to me.

This is a good explanation.

Different engine controllers are used with each.

how does one delete the DOD and VVT? The guy lowered his price to 1,600$ with a th400 trans.....I would want to run a bigger cam and stick it in my 1970 Camaro. Only problem I see is these engines has cam barring problems from what I have read about....
