'84 C100 question

There is a thin brown wire from my C100, and the diagram says it's for the charging system. Is this the wire for the voltage gauge? Thanks

Re: '84 C100 question

No, it is the wire to turn the alternator on. It should have a small amount of resistance so the alternator doesn't go over voltage. I think it also controls the idiot light, so if it isn't connected to the alternator it may show the light on the dash
