Got an Ls1 swapped into my 89 iroc, does anyone know if I can use the stock temp gauge? If I can how do I go about hooking it up? Thanks.

Re: Ls1 swap temp gauge question

Yes, iirc..get an 98 camaro ls1 temp sensor and wire pigtail.it has 3 wires instead of 2 wires like the 99-02 ls1 have.

The 3 wire pigtail allows you to have 1 wire for ground. 1 wire for the ecm to read the temp, the other wire goes to the temp gauge wire. I believe there is a diagram on here somewhere..should be easy to find if you search the stickies.

Yes, you can. Replace the LS1 temp sensor in the cylinder head with a '98 Camaro temp sensor and run the 3rd pin to your gauge.

Re: Ls1 swap temp gauge question

For my buddy's car we used an adapter from Auto Meter to screw the the original sender in to the pass side cyl head, and extended and rerouted the original wire to it.

Unnecessary extra leak point and just plain silly.

Re: Ls1 swap temp gauge question

For whatever reason when I went to the parts store I had to look at 3 different sensors before they pulled the 3 wire one even after I told them I needed the 3 wire sensor. Just double check if you go get one that way you dont need to make a second trip.
