Car: 1985 Camaro sport coupe
Engine: was 305H, 2002 Camaro LS1 now
Transmission: 4L60E
carbed fuel line question
I am in the process of finishing the fuel system. My car originally had a 305 with the carburetor. I took out the old 3rd gen tank and installed my donor car's 2002 4th gen tank this weekend. The old lines are still running under the car. Are the old steel fuel lines strong enough to reuse with the added pressure? What has everyone else done? I don't want to run the braided lines from the front to the back. Thanks.

I would think you'd be fine if it's in good condition. If you'd like piece of mind then you can always run new hard lines. I'm a big fan of the copper nickel line. Super easy to work with. Just my

The steel line is fine, but the ends aren't flared for an appropriate hi pressure feed line.
High pressure EFI hose and proper EFI clamps are good but not ideal, especially since e you're at even higher pressure than stock port EFI third gens.
In short, run a new high side line. For 2002, there's no return. And you can re-use an existing line for evaporative.

OK I used the copper nickel and it was super easy to bend. It holds pressure and the engine runs great. I have it installed and wrapped in the silver heat shield wrap. My only concern is how close it is to the headers. The fuel lines are a couple of millimeters away from the headers. I don't see any other way around this. Is there any other way?

Iv wondered the same thing. Mine a decently close to the headers as well. I put the heat wrap on mine as well but not real sure if there's another solution as to where or how to run them.
Glad you went with the copper nickle. Bit on the high end as far as price but it'll go where you need it to go quite smoothly.
