Finally got the engine harness out if my '91, tip: harness entry into pax fender next to blower motor - the harness enters by the pax kick panel under the dash. This is not a plug connector, it is a harness/wire pass through. PIA to remove, remove kick panel and lower dash cover. There is a vertical plastic lock around the top and two sides/perimeter. Use a utility or xacto blade to remove glue/caulk and it should slide up. There is a tab on the top, push down and push the "gromet" through the body. Prior to that remove inner plastic cover behind the tire, I turned my wheels full right and this all worked out. You will need to remove glue, pry gently etc to loosen this thing up and then it will push out. Disconnect the three plugs to the ECM and two other connections to other wires ( self explanatory when you get there) . The harness is now free and can be worked through The fender up and out of the engine bay.
Trial fit the 6L80E today, it will fit, will need some mods on my UMI TQ arm but no problem in the tunnel. I'm planning a UMI tubular K member.
i can't see any reason this will not fit, should just be enough room. All of this done very carefully and jacked each end up a couple inches at a time. Lots of technique to get this test fit done but I'm confident it will work. Someone on our site said no way and if you've got more info or something I'm missing please lmk This trans is the exact length of the 700r4 I took out so I used reference points for alignment.I still need a tail shaft from a 2wd truck. Drive shaft trans yoke swap but I'm thinking the length of my aluminum aftermarket d s will be fine
thanks to everyone on this site, hope this info helps someone.
thanks guys and gals

Re: LS swap / '91 Harness removal and 6L80E Fitment
Thanks for checking, I’m using winter to build the engine and trans and have the harness constructed.
I will send info as I go through the swap to share pertinent info for all. Getting ready to remove the rotating assembly and have the block checked out
