I know, I know, another exhaust question thread, but I haven't been able to find this information yet.
I'm putting an LS1 into my 85 TransAM with auto, currently with a small block 400 and "Clipster" ebay headers to suit. The exhuast shop did some fancy routing to get the exhaust headers to bolt up right at the bottom of the firewall and then loop around to the outside of the frame and down to the back.
Anyway I've seen the same clipster style headers are available in LS1 form, and was wondering if I purchased these if I'd be able to bolt them straight in and not have to do any extra work to the exhaust.
So the question is, with the LS1 installed with the 4L60E trans and no modifications made to the tailshaft, does the LS1 exhaust ports line up to the same place as the SBC/TPI?
Or better yet, has anyone tried these LS1 ebay clipster headers in a thirdgen?
I just don't want to pay out $280 for a set that won't line up. If they won't it's going to be better for me to get a set of turbo headers to face frontwards and pipe them around to set up for a turbo later.
Also just to add, I'm in Australia, the car is a RHD conversion, and parts are scarce, so there's no chance of finding a set of thirdgen ls1 headers to borrow and test fit.

Yeah, sorry, not the greatest pic to see the headers, it was more just for the bottom end routing.
I mean if its a bit short or long it's easy enough to fix up, it's more the height of the ls1 exhaust ports and lateral block location in comparison to the SBC I'm chasing.
Re: LS1 Swap - Exhaust location question -Clipster headers related
Surely someone throughout all these ls swaps would have done some measuring of where the exhaust ports align in comparison to the SBC ports/headers...
I'm really just trying to minimise the downtime for the car off the road. If I know it will be an easy bolt up with minimal mods then I can start earlier. If it's going to be a massive expense or long wait for parts I'll have to hold off till the cash is ready to be blown.

There are dimensions for both style motors on the internet. You could extrapolate from there to get you in the ball park. However, even if your dimensional analysis comes back the same you'll still be where you are now. Meaning, plan for fab work. There isnt going to be a way around it.
