Motor mounts

I know this question has been asked before but it seems the answer has not been determined. I need to know which motor mounts to get for my ls swap with ls1 oil pan and accessories with the hawks t56 crossmember. I had planned on getting the hawks mounts but they seem to be the same as the Spohn mounts which are known to have fitment issues and the hawks mounts has a review in which the customer had to use spacers for correct alignment. So I am stuck between the new style UMI mounts that are adjustable or the hooker mounts. I am not sure if there is room to notch for the ac compressor with the UMI mounts and I don’t know if the hooker mounts will work with the hawks t56 crossmember. Any advice?

Re: Motor mounts

You might want to pair the mounts to the trans cross member from the same manufacturer. Each of them have their own "position" but are in sync with their cross members as well, to be sold as a system. The Holley Mounts position the engine differently than most but is designed to work with their crossmember. I have the adjustable UMI mounts with the Holley crossmember and fitment is satisfactory. I personally would stay away from both spohn and hawks mounts. I have seen/used both and rarely am happy.

UMI, BMR, BPR Hotrods, and Holley (blackheart line) all sell mount systems for our cars.

Does the UMI mounts allow room to notch for the low mount ac compressor?

Re: Motor mounts

Your biggest enemy for AC mount will be K-Member interference. Specifically, if you reuse the stock triangle braces. If you do not reuse those brackets very few K-members clear (the BMR unit is advertised that is clears, but my single data point using this member says otherwise and required the hammer mod). If you notch the stock K-member I don't think any mounts become an issue.

Re: Motor mounts

I have the Hawks engine and trans mounts, no clearance issues. My speed engineering headers fit great with the set up.
