Couple of question for the lt1 swap
first post i put it in the WRONG section an it must have been deleted.
i am starting a father son project an a good friend gave me 97 z28 100k on it as the donor car cause it was totaled by the insurance company.so we thought lets just put the whole drive train in it.so here is my first question of many to come.
i have a 1985 camaro s/c carbed.i read one thread where the guy uses a v6/tpi harness to join with the lt1 harness.my question is it doesn't say anything about using a 85 carbed harness. Can i use the original harness out of the 85?would like to have all the gauges an everyhting work like it should.not new to the 3rd gen world just new to this type of swap..

Re: Couple of question for the lt1 swap
I think the v6/tpi harness would not matter in your case, you will still use the coolant, tach, and volts circuits that run through the c100 I think it is called.
I think you will have to add a circuit/wiring for the fuel pump and relay and also put a pump in the tank .
You can slim down the Lt1 wiring so that it is more of a stand alone set-up.
You will need to delete/bypass the VATS on the Lt1 computer.
What kind of trans do you have auto or manual?

I used the ecm wiring from the c207 that runs through the pass side kick panel to power the ecm and check engine light.
You should have this wiring even being a carb vehicle it still has or had a computer for the carb/distributor.
