Ls swap a/c notch gusset plate??

I am in the middle of preparing to drop my 5.3 into my 91 rs, and am about to notch my cross member to clear the oil pan and a/c compressor. However, while i was about to start the a/c notch i noticed that where i have to notch is right in he middle of the gusset plate connecting the cross member to the body. What is everybody doing about this?

Unfortunately, most folks get rid of that. Good bad or indifferent, it doesn't seem to cause too many concerns.
