Engine Bay UPDATES!!! *pics*
so last weekend i put in a fresh set of 416 casting iron "305 HO" cylinder heads. they have been milled .030" for a 53cc combustion chamber. teamed with an .041" thickness head gasket with a 3.9" bore, i now have 10.1:1 c/r. while at the machine shop, the stock size 1.84/1.5 valves got a backcut and the seats recieved a fresh 3 angle valve job. had the guides cleared for .550"+ lift and also machined for screw-in studs and guide plates. other wise, the combination is the same; 280H cam, holley street dominator intake, blah blah blah.
while i had the motor apart and was going from a centerbolt style valve cover to a perimeter style, i decided to pick up a new set of valve covers. these are made by ProComp Motorsports and are hand fabricated aluminum and TIG welded. they seal EXCELLENT and definitely give the motor a high end look and i still only payed $105 shipped for them. they came with the breather holes and a simple baffling system already installed. i also media blasted the intake to clean off all the old gas that had leaked onto it. i was able to pick up a set of profrom float bowls for my holley as well. they have glass fuel level sights built right in . they are VERY nice and seal well. i would recommend them to ANYONE!
i added an optima red top battery as well. that thing is BAD! but it's heavy as hell. since i added some weight to the front of the car and have opted to stay with a 245/50/16 tire up from, the manual steering box came out in favor of power steering. this has made the car SO much funner to drive. i don't know that going back to the 416's over the aluminum 113's made the car any quicker, but it sounds meaner. it's still super strong, and i'd venture to say it's still a solid mid 12 second car, i just need to get it to the track with a real tire on her again.
here's some quick pictures

a really good one of the valve covers and fuel bowls:

here's the optima red top, freshly cleaned overflow tank and a good shot of the drive's side of the motor!

hood prop circa 1930's...anyone got a good set of hood struts they want to let go for a decent price?

one of the whole car, just because

the 113's do have some problems but are for sale for $350 plus shipping. this will include the moroso cast aluminum valve covers. pm me for details

this is the last combo this 305 will see. the heads do have some bowl blending, but nothing crazy.
i have not found hood struts that cheap around here, most are in the $35/each range.
