Re: tire size
Z28er,
On my formula 255/40/17 in the front rub. The max that I know of in the front is 245 s. Now for the rear I have 255/45/17 but when I take an action turn it rubs on the inner fender wall but I'm sure if I just go in and trim some it should be ok. Others have run 255 with no problem.
Now here is where it gets interesting. The 2 ways I know of that will allow you to mount 275 in the rear would be either to use a bolt on spacer or tub. Tubbing is rather expensive but is the real way to do it. This is what the real street type drag cars do. Not really something that is recommended for the daily driver. Its overkill. The bolt on spacer is also not really recommended because when you make some real power, more specifically torque, that would become a weak point as your tire is not attached straight to your rear end. The tire would also extend out of the wheel well. I would say that it would be more aesthetic rather than functional. If you wanted more tire traction I would suggest Firestone SZ50, Goodyear F1 GS-D3, or MT Radials.
