Rims are now silver

Some updated pics. Satisfied over the original yellow cracked and chipped paint on the rims.

What process and color did you use to paint them? My wheels have the gold accents on them, and I want to paint them the grey color. Would also like to see closer pics. Also if you could put a before and after shot. Looks good man.

Here are some close ups of the paint. (Not decals) I thought they were to when I first saw my friend paint it.

Re: Rims are now silver

NobleHdwe- First I used this stuff called "Peeler 15" from levines autostore. I would have to say it took about 10 hours for me to strip all of the wheels with this stuff to the bare aluminum. (three cans) I would go with some aluminum aircraft stripper. I hear it works faster. And alot of rags like the one shown below. Then I used Eastwood's wheel smoothing kit on all of the wheels. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

So basically what you see is just the aluminum the wheel is made of and smoothed out. I used no paint on them.

Millertime21- I took that picture from in a tree about 30-40 feet high. There just happened to be a circle opening.

Thanks for everybody's compliments. It's funny before when I originally posted pictures of my paint in May, not to many people liked it. I did like it to but I knew the rims had to have something done to them. Compliments are much obliged!!!

Re: Rims are now silver

Did you coat the wheel with anything when you were done to help protect it, or just clean them regularly to prevent any discoloration, or buildup? Looks good. Great monkey climbing skills for the last shot!

Re: Rims are now silver

Yeah about that clear coat. I haven't done it yet. So thats what i had to do to my rims. Thanks for reminding me. The brake pads I got suck so it builds up a little on the front rims, but you can't tell that much. I just hated looking at my yellow rims covered in brake dust. Yeah they looked good after cleaning them until I drove it two minutes later. Slowfast yeah that was my brother who posted it when it was painted that day. do you have a second gen? I see your putting in a 406, post a video or picture of the engine.

Can anybody guess what the other vehicle is in the tree picture shot or "monkey shot" as Noblehdwe calls it?

You get abssolutly nothing except for the gratification of knowing what it is.

Re: Rims are now silver

Noble hdwe i wish I could say it was my brothers but we have never driven it. We have had it for 4 years now. His camaro is in the garage. (almost drivable) If you look close enough you might be able to see what emblem is on the decal at the top of the windshield. Thanks Xoferif.
