Can Camaro Grid and Non-Grid Tail Lights Interchange
I have a group buy for custom color tail lights going on right now from www.klearz.com
Group Buy Click Here
I was asked by Tina from KLEARZ if these lenses can interchange between each other? ONLY THE LENSES. I know the housings interchange and fit....but do the lenses interchange without any mods needed? Let me know ASAP.

I don't think so as the lenses are not easily removable... but I may be wrong.

BTW point out to them that the grid lights are 85-92.
And I bet they would interchange fine, but I dont know enough about teh way the grid lights are put together to say. Is each square in the grid light an individual piece of glass? If they can make a full, one-piece lense, with the grid inlayed (maybe paint them in on our own after we get them or leave them as is) then that would be the best option I bet. It seems to me like removing and reinstalling tiny squares of glass would be a tedious lesson in frustration.
You said they were doing a mold of the lenses? If they can do one big mold and paint the grid lines in, then that would be the best way to do it. We could even do that ourselves but it takes a little away from the plug and play aspect of it. Doing molds of individual lenses would probably be a hell of a lot more expensive too. If they do one big lense, then it would probably be possible to move them to the other housings also, but I wouldnt know for sure.
Do you know how exactly they were planning on doing it?
And Im not sure how the taillights are made myself, so maybe it's just a plastic frame with a bunch of square lenses? Maybe it isnt possible to remove all of that? I don't know, to be honest... Never taken apart my tails before.
The interesting thing to me is, if they dont paint the grid lines, I bet the lights would still look pretty cool in a uniform color all the way across. Much like the chrome IROC wheels that dont have the painted accents...
But they said they can do them in any color... but I dont know if that extends to finish work such as accent paint or not. It'd be a good idea to find out.

the housings themselves are all identical, so yes, you could interchange them. but you'll need the appropriate trim piece that goes on the side of the taillight right next to the license plate
kyle, the grid tailights are all one big lense

Thanks guys and Ill report this info back.
And yes its a one piece lens.
I just e-mailed her about the 85-92 and also if they are going to paint the inner trim parts between the lenses. And also about the interchange, except needing the black end trim piece.
