$350 89' Camaro RS
the guy originally was selling it for 500. well me and my dad went to go look at it and he tried to feed us some crap until after he let us mess with it and found out the fuel pump was bad among some other interior problems. offered him 350 cash on the spot and he took it. its my second car and i'm happy about it. of course anyone would be happy to go from a SOHC 98 dodge neon to a V6 89 Camaro rs.

Nice deal. is the fuel pump all that keeps it from running?

Re: $350 89' Camaro RS
yeah i already went out and bought the fuel pump and the strainer and my dad showed me how to put it in. it starts us, sounds awesome and runs. i drove it to the bottom of my street and back. i have to get different tires on it because the guy who had it before me got tires that were to big so they rub on the inside when i turn. i'm going to be keeping the rims and just have new tires put on it. i'm waiting until i get paid on wednesday before i go and get it tagged and stuff.

Re: $350 89' Camaro RS
here's what i would do, in order of importance:
-full tune up (don't forget changing fluids EVERYWHERE...ie, trans and rearend too!)
-tires
-subframe connectors
-good set of shocks/struts
-lower the car
-posi, keep the stock gears, the car came factory with 3.42's, good for fuel economy and still allows the car to have some *****.
-once it's all in good mechanical condition, then look into what to do to make more power. coming from a guy that has done 3 v6-v8 swaps in these cars, keep this car a 60* v6. if the bottom end craps out, put in a 3.4L from an early 4th gen, you'll be very happy with it's 220ftlbs. if you want a v8, save up and buy a factory v8 car and build it over time, you'll be money ahead doing it this way, i PROMISE.
-once the car is mechanically sound and has the power plant from the 3.4, i would THEN look into making it look nice. you'll have a great handling car that looks good and won't cost you an arm and a leg at the pumps. go home and get the v8 car whenever someone wants to race ya.

holy crap thank you. i think i'm gunna follow your advice its going to take alot of time though because i'm about to graduate and go to college so theres a whole lot of bills right there already. i'm going to get inspection done on it friday so i can drive it around. i'll probably use the money i get from selling my neon to help me start on making my car more awesome than it already is.

definately not a bad car for $350 (even if its a v6). a decent car like that is hard to find at that price. im even surprised i got mine for only $1500. check out my vb garage

Re: $350 89' Camaro RS
Im embaressed to say but my car is in same condition but with 305 and bought it for 1,500. Dang good steal you got. I didnt see what motor you said it was but im guessing 2.8 if you do have the time for a swap i to would stay 6cyl. You'll have to change the tranny, unless you get the Adapter not sure of the site. But a 4.3 would be a good replacement.

Re: $350 89' Camaro RS
a 4.3 swap would require alot of the same stuff a sbc swap would take, but be far more complicated, twice as expensive, and probably get less fuel economy than the average sbc swap. not a good idea. 3.4 FTMFW!
