Official Plans:
-get the car running again tommorrow
-drive the car for a few hours as a last farewell
-into the garage on saturday for surgery
-remove Engine, Tranny, all electronics, and the gears for the rear-end
-engine plans: 383. 10.5:1 compression. Crower Cam, fully roller valvetrain.
-Intake: ported and siamesed, port the heads. TPI airfoil. Dual snorkle CIA intake.
-exhaust if money left, high-flow 3in mandrel bent exhaust

Here is the official plan for paint:
me and my father made a deal. When we pull the car apart, we will check the various parts of the car that are what make a color change so expensive. IF a: those more hidden places need painted badly, then we will perform the color change to a Dupont Hot Hues yellow.
or b: those places are still good, then we will stick with the stock color yellow, but my father picks up the tab for vette brakes.

Re: progress report, and RIP $700 Iroc-Z28.

What happened today. The RIP part.

OOOOH boy did we have fun today.

to start, we rewired all the wires to the starter cause one burnt through again.......
then we reassembled the steering column and put the steering wheel on.
Surprise surprise, it started right up! we buzzed up and down the road after letting it warm up.

list of issues:
front brakes dragging
steering geometry is messed
brakes pull to the right
no power

but still, it moved. and drove, and the turn signals even worked.

And then came the issues. Ice = bad. and my driveway was solid ice. tried to pull it in, didnt come in. Then there was this huge slam, and now i have no more positraction. there are huge roostertails behind 1 wheel at atime. The rear end is clanging. and the car wont get up the driveway. I give up and let my dad have a shot at the now half-disabled car. He throws it into gear and literally floors it to try and get it up the driveway. He tries this about 15 times each time not getting it up into the garage. half way through, the front brake rotors BOTH lock up. Then the right rear tire goes flat. He's freaking flooring my poor baby and the engine is howling. Still not getting up the driveway.

Then there is smoke. within 2 more shots up the driveway the car begins backfiring badly, and sounds like its down on who knows how few cylinders. Quickly he shuts if off when those sounds start. open the hood and FWOOSH. boiling hot smoke all over. Seriously the engine is almost entirly cooked. This is 10 mins later after i found the camera:

So while we waited for it to cool hoping it wasnt completely blown, we went to the locked up front brakes.

it was a hydraulic issue. The pressure wasnt releasing, leaving the brakes locked if you even touched the brake pedal.

anyways, we needed it out of the driveway, so we chained it to our truck and dragged it up to the neighbors. It started but it smokes so bad and sounds like it is missing at least 2 cylinders. probably more like 4.

Anyways, heres my baby sitting up in my neighbors:

So ther you go. a near-blown engine and a few more problems. This car honestly has so many issues that its not going to be the same car when it comes out of my garage in a few months. Honestly. Thats why its RIP 85 Iroc-Z.

Still, shes going to be a monster when shes done! I cant wait to show her off to u guys!

Good story, I cant wait to see it done. I just picked up a set of Black Cross lace wheels and tires for my baby for $250. They look sooooo bad ***. I will definitely make a thread my I fix my 9 Bolt (disassembled Temp).
----------
You could also sell the Knight Rider Rims and make bank off of them if they are the right size and everything.

eh. shes not nice now. but when she comes out she'll be there with the best.

entering the garage this weekend. When she comes out in a month shell have

~$1500-$2500 in upgrades on a refreshed L98
hopefully this entails a crower cam, 1.6 rockers, new HRL's, new valve springs, Dyno dons headers, dual cats, catback, and some heavy port work on the heads and intake.
~Fresh yellow paint
~tranny shift kit
~repaired positraction. 3.73 gears?
~new black seats
~HEADLINER!
~vinyl hockey stripes, black
~all new stickers
~all new emblems
~4 new tires. 2 265/50/16 and 2 285/60/16 on the iroc wheels. I think i got those numbers right . poor car has 225/65/16s all around right now i think.
~Polished iroc wheels with the inserts painted black.
~Underhood glossy black paint
~properly painted headlight pockets
~All engine wires and tubes hidden. Make it look clean
~all new brakes lines and hoses. rotors and calipers repaired as needed
~spoiler repaired

so yes. THEN she will be a beast. . The cam may be a bit much for the 350, but the more work i do on it the more it will come into its own!

Looks like everything is coming together for ya. You just can't beat the look a yellow I-ROC. Did you say you were in the Mount lebonan/Bethel Park area in a past thread? I grew up in Carnegie.
