This is not my car, however I would love to clone it! I just need some gfx for my Berlinetta. I've got a set of C5 Z06 wheels, which I think would look great, but those C6s look amazing!

Re: 1982-1984 Z28's pic thread!!!!!
Drjewalton if I remember correctly the actual '82 pacecars had them but the replicas couldn't because of the goverment mandated 85mph speedometers at the time. It was an over the counter item at any Chevrolet dealer. I have the box mine came in somewhere with the orginal speedo in it. Do you have a picture of your '84 to post?
KITT the louvers are the factory accessory aluminum louvers but they didn't come with the car. I bought them from a TGO member few years ago. I have always liked the look except on the rear wiper cars. They look odd since the louvers have to be clearanced for the wiper. I don't think I've ever seen a set for a rear wiper car for sale.

Here's mine. 29,200 original miles. Original paint. I'm second owner.
First owner showed this car in Camaro Nationals in late 80's and early 90's...placed 1st in 89 for stock 82-84 category.
I had the twin brother of this car in high school (except my high school car was automatic, this one is 5 spd)...when I saw this one was for sale for a decent price, I had to jump on it!

Re: 1982-1984 Z28's pic thread!!!!!
Just saw this thread and decided to post. I just picked up this '83 Z28 about a month ago. I had been eying it all summer, but the price was just too high, and then finally the price dropped to what I had wanted to spend, and BAM, she came home with me within a few days. Felt right at home alongside my 87 IROC-Z & 95 Z28.
It has the LG4 motor, 3 speed auto transmission, J65 4 wheel disc brakes, G80 rear end, the LS Conteur interior. The car is 100% original right down to the wiper blades and tires (both had to replaced though due to age). It has just a hair over 20,000 miles on it (about 20,200 to be specific).
Just started detailing it..you can see the IROC in the background.
The two Third Gens
Up at my local Cruise Night in Kanata for the first time
Guys a little confused/shocked about the interior
Only real picture I have of the interior, the picture from the seller's ad
Up on the hoist at my buddy's shop for the Safety Inspection.

Re: 1982-1984 Z28's pic thread!!!!!
Thanks Motown...although I wish I could say it started out that nice. The only advantage of higher-mileage cars, are that things don't sit long enough to dry out/seize like they did on this one.
When I brought the car home, the 100 mile drive was the furthest the car had been driven in over 15 years. The tires were shot so the car was shaking, the wiper blades were worn (and it was raining), the triangle seals behind the side mirrors are worn and cracked so I had horrible wind noise, and the carb needed some serious tuning. All that said though, I made it home without incident, which I thought was pretty awesome considering how long it's been sitting. The paint was also pretty crappy, single stage paint can really take a beating.
$3000 later, the car drives like it just rolled off the factory floor in 1983. Brand new tires, brakes, fluids, and just about every other "maintenance" item was replaced. I also spent 100's of hours slaving away in the garage detailing it back to life. It's now going to enjoy a life of car shows & cruise nights. It is a completly different car compared to my 87 IROC, which is more "raw" I like to say.
It's pretty neat though, the previous owner bought the car brand new in January 1983 at Ontario Motor Sales (Oshawa, Ontario), and it's been in Ontario it's entire life. I got the original dealer bill of sale (showing all the options), as well as the cheque made out to the dealer. He paid $15,500 for it at the time.

Nope, 100% original paint and stripes. Just a lot of love bringing it back to life. I spend about a week straight working on it while waiting for various appointments at the shop.

Thats a great story spd-kilz. I know how the single stage paint is. I have that on my 85.
I wish I had all of that original owner information like you did. You know, to kinda know its past and where it came from. Which is kind of a shame, since Im only the 3rd owner.
Keep it in good shape man, especially the salty climates like we live in. People will be more amazed by its condition as the years roll on.

This is a very well done car. Still has kind of the sleeper aspect to it yet it has a bunch of simple well selected parts. Check out the links below.

Thats a great parts list. Sounds like you are really happy with the mods to your car. Its also cool that you kept your '82 a 4-speed to. Many people don't even know that you could get a stock 4-speed thirdgen in 1982.
How do you like your Spohn LCA's? I'm thinking about getting some of them and a K-member to get some weight off the nose of the car. I've heard that some of these kinds of aftermarket parts don't exactly fit as well as the GM factory parts.

I like the Spohn front LCA's they have been fine, BUT unfortunately have moved me too far up the ladder in class in AutoX, so I think they are going to come off this winter, they are part # 732B if your interested, I 'll cut you a deal

Re: 1982-1984 Z28's pic thread!!!!!
Ha ha thanks man. I'm not going to buy those kinds of parts just yet. I just bought most of the parts that I am going to need to rebuilt the rear end so thats where most of my money went now. The suspension and brakes are next after that.
Sucks that you will have to put the stock stuff back on after you did all those mods though. Ha ha yeah I am sure that you would have blown up a stock T-5 with the engine that you have now. GM didn't put T-5's behind stock L98's so I know a stock one put behind a hopped up engine would be asking for problems. If you want an overdrive stock style T-5 check out G-Force transmissions. I think the stock world class T-5 was only rated around 300 foot pounds of torque max. The G-Force T-5 is supposed to rated much higher than that but I have my doubts. At higher power levels the trans case starts to flex which gets the gears and shafts out of specification. If I had a manual car I would still like to run a 4-speed like you or the T-5 (as long as you could get away with it) because it would be less power loss, fewer gears, and lighter weight. Also I wouldn't have to do any custom mods to use the transmission because those were optional transmissions that thirdgens came from the factory with.
The 4-speed that you have is very cool though. I haven't seen to many 1982 Z28's that are in good shape like yours is stock let alone modified in a tasteful way. I have seen countless '82-'84 Z28's that have been modified in bad ways to say the least. I guess because these early Z28's are mostly L69 and LG4 carb motor power (and the fact that they are usually cheaper than later '85-'92 models) they are easier to obtain and modify. It's still nice to see and early thirdgen thats in great shape. I wish more were still around now especially considering that GM made a lot more '82-'87 Z28's than any other factory high performance Camaro model thirdgen (specifically the Z28's & IROC's) during the production run.

Yea the 4 speed is kinda neat, I'm afraid I would have blown up a few T5's with the stroker by now .. AND the Spec stage 3 clutch is amazing ! I tried a few cheapies along the way, but the Spec is SWEET !

Not sure where you heard that? But I custom fabricated my entire dual exhaust and couldn't use my original 84 exhaust for extra piping because it was 2 1/4 inches? I know for a fact it was 2 1/4 because I measured it myself and it slid easily into my 2.5" pipe?

Exactly, I also have an x-pipe. I read somewhere that in order for a single exhaust system to equal or surpass a dual 2.5" setup it has to be in the 3.5-3.75" range.

Awesome ride dellman!!....As I look at your car, I realize it's exactly like mine was when it was stock....even down to the sand grey interior. I really like the interior mods and 4th gen dash upgrade. I think I'd like to do that to mine, but on these '83's I bet it was a lot of work!
