Pics of my 87 IROC Z

I just recently acquired this 87 IROC in a trade for my 87 Corvette roadster I no longer have. This IROC is RPO correct in just about everything I'm aware of except for the flowmaster exhaust, ignition coil and the rear fold down seat. The rear fold down seat should be one piece instead of two. This is a solid car with no rust anywhere. It was recently finished being restored in 2006 by the former owner. It has some minor interior plastic pieces that need replacing otherwise its a solid car. Drives tight and fires up every time. The engine was rebuilt from the heads up as well as a new tranny put in. New weatherstripping everywhere as well as new paint etc..Anyhow here are some pics...

The split fold down seat was a option , so the rear seat might be original.

Well the problem with the split seat is that the latch to fold them down with on the drivers side does not have the metal pin that sticks out from the side of the interior for it to catch on. If I move down that seat.. it becomes very loose and can be removed with no problem. I wonder what it would take to install a catch pin for it?

I never was big on red until I saw this one. I couldn't pass up on it. Certain cars look good in red.. and others don't in my opinion. The only thing I'm wondering if I should do or not is to remove the stripes. I like them.. then again I don't. The stripes need to be replaced anyways since they are peeled or ripped in certain locations. I just can't bring myself to remove them yet after seeing the prices on the stripe kits!

Nice. A Red 87 IROC-Z, my favorite car. The rear split seat was an option and is probably original unless someone swapped those from another 87. I'd keep the stripes, just restripe it one day when you have the cash if they're not perfect. Looks like someone switched the shift ****, as it was the same shape but shorter for this year.

It's true, certain cars look "right" in red, (especially ones with alot of black trim) and when they do it's striking. IROC-Z's are one of those cars, must be why red ones were used in most of Chevys advertising and magazine tests!

Thanks for the comments However I removed the stripes already since it was peeling in some areas in didn't look right. I will post updated pics soon. As for the rear seat... its not original. There is nothing for the drivers side rear fold down seat to catch on. It basically just sits there and flops around if you remove it by hand. No one mentioned how I can add another metal pin or whatever you call it to catch on. I'm also planning on getting tint soon as well.

Re: Pics of my 87 IROC Z

If you can get ahold of the metal pin itself from the classifieds or one of the board sponsors, it "should" thread into the sheet metal body itself. Can't imagine that ALL thirdgens don't have the threaded provisions for the pins.

I hope so too. I would hate to have to cut or drill to put one in. What is the proper term/name for this " metal pin" for the rear fold down seats?

Awesome car! Looks great esp with the red on red!

Good move on the stripes. Do you have any pics sans the stripes?

Ordered stripe-less from GM RPO DX3, gave us a $60 CREDIT off the price!
