New Pics Of My Car Lowered
hey fellas well i decided that i didnt really like the stance of my car. previously when i bought the car it came with sportlines except for some reason the rears where cut, which made my tires rub and for a very harsh ride, also i had stock sturts and shocks. so what i did was cut the sportlines a 1/4 of a coil and place a set of pro kit springs in the rear, i also put new kyb struts/shocks. overall the only thing that rubs is the new air dam which sit about 2 inches from the ground! let me know what you think.

Looks GREAT! What are your plans for the air dam? I just lowered mine and my air dam is about an inch off the ground and am debating whether or not to remove it completely, or modify it...

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
the front is about 1/2" an inch a bit too low for my taste, my 91 has roughly the same drop but you can see the entire tire, your fender lip seems to cover your tire partially which makes it look smaller. does your front tires rub

Looks great! Sits about the same as mine. I just took the rotozip and cut 2" off the airdam. No cooling issues, less scrapes.

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
I plan for a full 2" front and rear drop. I will be using racecraft drop spindles, with ground control weight jacks in the front with 900# springs and a 2" shorter spring in the rear at 200# also with the weight jack system with Koni Yellows all around as well as J&M mounts.
Anyway I am at 27.75" all around from ground to the center of fender. I'd like to be about 25.75-26" from the ground which would net me the stance I want.
So my question is, how far from the ground to the center of the fender does your car sit?

Well done. Usually when people post that they've lowered their cars, I tell them to keep going. But this is perfect. Props

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
looks nice, but seriously, how do you drive on the street with that? The front would get torn up on everything. And if you get "spirited" with your driving, the wheels could get into the fenders

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
hey guys thanks alot for the positive commemts, i think i may end up shaving an inch off the air dam, other than that i havent had and problems with the drop, speed bumps i gotta go on an angle but i had to do that before too, im on the 400/401/427 highways daily so i think i ll be alrite, only the wheel well only rubs on big drops, but i only have the outside bolts on the wheel well plastic so once i put the inner it should tighten up and stop, thanks again for the great comments guys!

That's looking awesome and I like the smooth side without the moldings. Dang and i just bought 88 up pointy moldings to replace the ugly square ones on my 87. More parts for the shelf then. Your car is a great inspiration. Super clean!

Super cool ride!! I love the Y2K's...are you running 17's in the front and 18's in the rear? Or 18's all the way around? What size spacers?

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
the wheels are 18x9.5 all way round with 2 inch spacers, 245/40/18 and 295/35/18 here is a pic of the stance before also, i end up trimming the air damn about 1/4 of a inch as it was scraping everywhere lol,, ohh yea bye the way Bill those arms rest are holding up awesome!
Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
dont know about you guys, but i like the before stance better. instead of getting new springs, you should have got the 5 inch spoiler, that would have given that rear lift (raked) look that essentially you got now.

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
i also have a white camaro that i am in the process of building, dont want to steal the stance of your car but if i buy the pro-kit and cut them 1/4" in the back how much would i need to cut to get it that low in the front??

I'd have to agree. But then again, if he lowered his rear how it is now it would be so much better than before (shown above). I like the old and the new.

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
I like the stance of yours Pearl. I really think it improves the look, low and sleek. Mine was lowered by a PO but I have no idea how. It's about 1.5" low all around. I like the look of dead-nuts level rather than a aft/fore rake (rather old school). For an old fart like me it makes gettin' in and out of the car a bit of a chore. Wouldn't hurt loosin' the spare tire I'm carryin' 'round with me eh?

I have the usual problems with speed bumps and big driveway ramps etc. A couple of times I've bounced the SFC's off a speed bump. Little un-nerving.
This pic (scan of photo) is of my original '87 shortly after I got it new in '87. You can see the noticeable difference in ride height.

I'm not worrying about cutting down the air dam. It'll eventually get worn down anyways!

That really looks good
Tried running mine that low but road conditions around here
would'nt let me and had to raise it back up alittle.
Running Morrison coil overs on mine so pretty adjustable on hieght.

Re: New Pics Of My Car Lowered
You've got to be very careful especially with speedbumps & curb ramps. This car doesn't like rough roads but I don't imagine (or I don't remember my other one) most do. The car handles and tracks well maybe a bit better then original. I really like the looks and have been pursuing "all original" with this car but I'm thinking I might leave it this way unless it becomes a real problem.

lots of changes since 2009, removed sportlines and installed Eibach Weight Jacks, UMI control arms front and rear, basically rebuilt the front end (tie rods etc) C5 front brake upgrade also added a rear end from a 02 SS with 3.42 gears. Currently working on a Lsx/T56 Swap
This is how it sits as off June 2011
