Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
Thanks for the comments guys! I appreciate them!
I just got done painting the inserts on one of the 91/92 wheels and doing the final polishing. Looks great but I still have 3 more to paint and go over with the Mothers Polish. Hopefully get that done this weekend.
Here is the first one done...
Also I bought a mint front chin ground effect instead of wasting time repairing the cracked one. I installed that as well along with the Harwood cowl induction hood. Ill try and snap some pictures this weekend if I get the wheels all done and installed.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
I used Rustoleum High Performance Wheel Paint, its supposed to have a long lasting finish so we'll see. I didnt clear it, figured it would take away from the shine of the polished spokes

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
Snapped a picture today to show my progress...
The Hardwood 3 inch cowl hood is installed (need to make minor adjustments to fit it right) Finally got a mint 91/92 front ground effect (just needs old paint sanded off) and installed the "CAMARO" grill. *Forgive the nasty dirt on the car, I had the car trailered home in a rain/sleet storm so it got pretty dirty. Gonna wash it once the temperature goes back into the 50s*
Now that the car is all pieced back together, I can start bodywork and paint. Working at a bodyshop will be helpful as I can do my final prep and paint there.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
Well I got the Camaro running, seems all it needed was a new battery terminal connector. Fired right up and I put a new battery in as well. Test drove it around the condo complex several times and everything seemed ok to drive to work (Maaco) So tomorrow bodywork starts and hopefully will be painted soon.
I snapped some pictures before I took it to work and a few in the parking lot at work. As you can see, I got all the polished 91/92 wheels on and all the body panels are solid and put together...

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
Thanks guys!! I worked on it a little today on my lunch break and for an hour after work, I D/A'd the 1/4 panels, the hatch panel, and roof to take the Camaro at least down to the original paint/primer. I figure do that for a couple weeks and should get pretty far.
My plan is to pull the spoiler, ground effects, doors, hood, and front bumper off the car and panel paint those. Then just have the shell of the car with fenders on and paint that as one so I can get the door jams and all the edges really nice.
What Im going to do is D/A the car with 80 grit paper to take the previous paint job off down to factory paint/primer, go over any surface rust, hit the car then with 180 grit sandpaper and then prime the entire shell, guidecoat it, block sand the car, and do a bc/cc, assemble the car, then wetsand and buff the car, along with tinting the taillights. I need a set of clear turn-signals if anyone has some.
I didnt have my camera with me today, I will try and take some pictures tomorrow. I want to sand the fenders down tomorrow and pull the ground effects and I need to take out the interior.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
More teardown today on the RS for paint job. I want to get it so I dont have any tape lines anywhere on the car...so I ended up pulling the doors off the car and tomorrow I will pull the hatch. Also got the fenders buzzed down with the D/A, just got to go back around the edges by hand.
Drivers side, think there was some dust or something on the lens or in the air, the picture came out a little blurry...
Passenger side, solid except for the bottom of the 1/4 panel behind the door...
Close up of the area that was hit, going to grind the filler out, see if I can pull the panel back into shape more and then recoat it...
Need to pull the antenna, anyone know how to do this without breaking it? I see a couple 7 mm bolts at the bottom.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...
Some more pictures of the bodywork. I have it all ready to be masked up for primer tomorrow! Hopefully will turn out good!
Close up of the fender...needed some work here, the front was a little wavy and a couple door dings and whatnot...
Got the worst of the bodywork pulled back into shape using a stud puller tool. Just need to weld up a couple holes and coat it will some filler...
Picture of the overall car and yes...my coworker is taking a nap in the back...hopefully my boss doesnt see this! lol

Very cool, I don't want to get into politics but that C4C thing was a terrible idea all the way around.
In order for that car to have been eligible for C4C he would've had to have it registered for at least one year previous to the date he traded it on a new car. So it's actually a good thing he hit that post and parked it.
I like what you're doing to the car though, very tasteful.

looking great you definitely saw a diamond in the rough there. do you have any updates yet? I'll say I'm definitely in the minority here and say that I like you're original wheels better but they are only 15" which stinks because I love that style

I kinda liked the blue with silver ground effect look. Theres a guy across the street in the other apartment complex with one in similar condition to that one when you found it. This makes me want to go see if he'll sell it for cheap and then do what you did. Although I really to get mine looking topshape again first. Itll be a head turner for sure.

I thought I spotted a little rust on the body under that left front fender around the bottom of the firewall when you took it off- did you get rid of that? Mine has a similar problem that will need addressing before paint- my feet get wet in a rainstorm!

Since last post, I have blocked and wetsanded the 91 with 320 and 600 grit sandpaper. I then have color on the shell and fenders (I can text pictures to someone to upload here if anyone can do that for me 8152193353) I wetsanded and buffed the Camaro.

Ive been tossing swapping an ls1 and t56 in there since its already a 5 speed, but it is pricey, but stuff always somehow falls into my lap so who knows? i already have a race camaro and i want this as my daily driver so its gotta be something practical.
