P.S. On the subject of the wheels maybe some 18" IROC'S? Just an idea...
Thanks buddy! I cant wait either, right now, Im waiting on my buddy to spray the remaining panels so I can reassemble and have a complete car once again.

That wouldnt be a bad idea, IROCs, but 18s seem too much, id do 17s though if the right deal came along

For the rims, I used Aircraft paint stripper to remove the clearcoat on the wheels, sanded out the curb rash/rough spots with 80 grit and then started sanding from 320 grit all the way to 2000 grit then polishing with Mothers Metal Polish. Then I taped off the spokes and painted the inserts silver metallic. I sold that set but picked up another set to do again

For the bumpers, just scuff the paint with 320 if its factory and doesnt need any prep work. If so, take it down with 180 grit, do whatever repairs, prime, and block the primer with 320 wet

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...

Couple updates...collecting parts over the winter...

Picked up a LT1 shortblock Im considering using instead of the 305. Of course I still will be running a carbed setup just for simplicity sake. I still need to get a cam (503, 847 cam) heads, intake, carb, front accessories, etc. I will probably go through the short block and check the bearings and see if I can reuse everything or if it needs rebuilt. Anyways, should be a little more power and potential then the 305...

I know this is like the 4th set of wheels I will have done for this car, but just trying to find a nice wheel to go with the Hugger Orange paint. As I said earlier, my 4th gen rear and ZR1s went to trade for the VFN 4 inch hood. I got these wheels for free so Im gonna try and clean these up and strip the black paint and sand/polish the oxidation off the wheels.

The wheels are C6 Motorsport 17x8.5 Replica wheels. I have tires for 2 of the wheels (275/40zr17s) I will need 2 more for the front if anyone has some cheap tires they are looking to get rid of as well as spacers since the 4th gen rear is gone and I need something until I replace the rearend in my 4th gen.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...

As far as paint work progress is going, I am going to REPAINT the ENTIRE Camaro again. Just want the Camaro perfect and found some small imperfections I didnt catch until paint was on the car and after sitting in the garage for awhile and numerious friends going in and out of the garage, there are some chips and dents that "appeared"

The good news is all the jambs are painted and the main shell will just need scuffed and I can reassemble the entire car and spray everything at once, then wetsand and buff. Although I am going to have to wait until spring for some warmer weather to spray, it does give me some time to get the bodywork done.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...

Just a little update...started warming up so I spent a little time in the garage reassembling the Camaro so the body is in one piece so I can reprime/paint the car as one piece now that all the jams are done in Hugger Orange.

Still looking for a:

Windshield
Headliner
Dashpad (found a better one, but corner has a crack, didnt see until installed)
Glove box lid
Weatherstrip kit
4th gen wheel spacers
17 inch tires
V8 T5 or parts to bolt a v6 T5 to a V8

Thanks, it was mint minus the the drivers side corner being cracked a little. It bugs me even though you have to look up from underneath the dash to see it and have the door open, I still know its there. Still searching for a perfect one

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...

Pushed the Camaro out of the garage to get some pictures of the Camaro all back together in one piece. All the jams are painted Hugger Orange now and now I just need to prime the outside of the Camaro and concentrate on a couple spots here and there.

Notice my "windshield banner" lol...On the front, I want to take down the front bumper and ground effect to bare plastic or factory paint since they both have been painted numerious times before. The hood I want to block sand since its pretty wavy...

For the sides, the doors are about the only major work I have to do. The front of the door need some stud puller holes welded up from a previous repair and a dozen door dings fixed. I need to touch up a couple spots I missed on the fenders when I painted the shell but nothing major...

Rear end pretty much is primed and guide coated, just waiting for the rest of the car to "catch up" Not sure if Im going to keep the blacked out tails or look for another set or not. Ill see when the car is finished...

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...

****FOR SALE**** Need to sell to buy a friends 69 Pontiac LeMans that he has to sell due to financial trouble. Asking $2000 for the Camaro plus all the spare parts I have go with it. The 305, a 350 short block, a LT1 short block, tons of misc interior plastics, stock seats, all the parts needed for the v8 swap, stock and Hotckis springs, LT1 dash, extra ground effect pieces, an extra front bumper, door, and tons of misc parts. Everything goes with the car. 815-219-3353. Wont find a more solid Camaro body in the rust belt!

If for some reason I pull some money out of my ***, I will keep the car since I really dont want to part with it, but trying to help a friend out, so see what happens...

Don't sell it bro. Sell the parts or whatever, but dont sell the car. You've saved it from everything so far.

I know...I really dont want to sell the car, hopefully some money falls into my lap. My friend is afraid the bank is going to take his LeMans which he has had for probably longer than Ive been alive and buy the car from him. He told me to give him 1500 up front and the rest whenever. But the car needs a total restoration but it does come with all the GTO parts if I ever wanted to convert it.

He can always just transfer the car to your name with a bill of sale, you hold onto it for him until he gets his finances in order, then transfer it back once he does so. Not exactly right, but not illegal either. That way you dont have to get rid of your project, and he doesnt lose his car either.

if the bank is going to take it then they have the title,,,,,,,, cant transfer what is not yours...

good luck, but its a shame to see all the work go into the car and then sell before its even finished....I understand your point of view though.

Thanks...I think I would have regretted selling it. Just getting it in primer instead of 8 different colors is huge motivation for me. Actually looks like a car now lol

Thats the plan. Probably leave it in primer/sealer for this year to eliminate down time and paint it over winter. Mechanically, if I want to drive it as is, I need to fix the torque arm mounting bracket to the trans and a new battery/ground cable. I do have the LT1, a 350 sbc short block, and a 305 in my garage for my choices when I do the V8 swap. Although I want everything ready before I swap engines.

Re: My 91 RS Build Thread...Sorry Cash for Clunkers...

Got a little more work done today on the Camaro trying to get it drivable for ThirdGen Fest this year. Sanded down the front ground effect which had, I counted, 14 layers of paint on it and primed/sealed it.

Here is the ground effect all ready for primer...

Size: 215.8 KB

In primer...

Installed on the Camaro...

Name: frontgfx003.jpg

Not the grill Im running (Going with the RS one) but just to make it look alright for now...

Name: frontgfx004.jpg
Views: 125
Size: 103.6 KB

I also lined up the bumper to the fenders better. I still need to finish bolting the ground effect down tomorrow when the primer is fully dry and then just have to prime/install the door handles and side mirrors along with touch up some door dings on the drivers door and should look good...in primer at least lol

***I need wheel spacers for 4th gen wheels if anyone has a set, let me know***

How long do you plan on keeping the car in primer? I wouldn't reassemble a car that I know I'll be painting sooner or later. I know you said you wanted it drivable to thirdgenfest... any idea if painting before then is an option?

All the edges and jambs are painted with Hugger Orange. I primed and sealed the Camaro just incase it got rain on it. Im too picky so I dont want to rush a paint job. Probably paint it after I swap the LT1 in it whenever the 3.1 goes.

Enjoyed some of Chicagos nice weather today and sprayed some misc pieces in primer so I can get everything installed for ThirdGen Fest.

Gathered a pair of 4th gen door handles (direct fit and cleaner look) Sanded them down with 180 grit and primed/sealed them...

Also finished installing the front ground effect. Not sure when my next day off will be but plan on installing the door handles/mirrors and putting the interior back together. I still need a windshield, both sides of the drip rail molding, and weatherstrip kit if anyone has any, please let me know.

I didnt even think about that. Has this been done before? Curious to see pictures if so.

Also possibly trading my C6 wheels for C5 Z06 Motorsport wheels this weekend. 17x9.5s all around, black with a polished lip. Should look nice with the Hugger Orange/black stripes! Looking for wheel spacers still...

The drip rails are just screwed in under the weather stripping. I say all black rim with an orange lip on the outter rims edge.

Found my old grill in the garage, it was in a little rough shape, but since I like the RS ones better, decided to try and clean it up. It was repainted black before but look like it recieved alot of rock chips.

Here it is all degreased and ready for primer...

That would look awesome. The C6 wheels for the c5 zo6s feel through so going to paint the C6 wheels black, may do the outer edge orange as well.

Wow. Good job. I hhave been reading this thread off and on for two days. I am working on something simular, but I will paint it satin black to last a few years. I got the car primed but they left on all the paint underneath. About an eight thick. If you want to get rid of one of your other grills, let me know. I want one for my car

I am wanting to redo my car too, but no garage to do it in, which really sucks because I hate they way mine looks right now.

Unfortunatly...this is up for sale...asking 1500 for the roller (no engine, trans still there and without the hood) I have a 350 block, crank, rods, etc that I will include for $1800. I do have a PENDING sale right now with one person lined up after that...but you know how stuff happens.

Dont sell it! Nobody likes a quitter...your so far along. Even if you finished painting it and then sold it, you'd make so much more rather than take a big loss.
