My Project
I bought this 86 IROC from a friend who broke the motor 11years ago and parked it in storage since. He always had dreams of dropping in a crate motor that never happened. So, for $400 it was mine. The paint was already faded and interior trashed. It went through 2 teenage brothers who did not take good care of it. The father lives next door to me and he said he put more money in tranny and rear end repairs as well as tires than he paid for it.
I didn't think enough to get very many before pics but I will get plenty as it goes. I will visit the body shop often as I have to do the tedious sanding of the door jams...ect... and stripping the bumper covers in order to save a few bucks.

Re: My Project
Almost a year later, not much progress on the paint but it will be done soon. Can't complain, it's a freinds shop and getting a very expensive paint job for next to nothing.

Re: My Project
Finally got some color going on.
Pictures don't show the real color and doesn't do it justice.

Looks awesome. I love the colors and you did an awesome job on the doors. Did you use any additives to paint the nose and bumper? Like a flex additive or something? Just curious for when I repaint my bumper and nose. Thanks.

Re: My Project
I just do most of the sanding. The paint is put on by my buddy, his shop. It is cyber grey and cyber grey tinted with a metallic silver.
Used a special flexible primer and it still cracked from sanding and handling. After seeing that I decided not to add anything to the paint and save some money. Any cracks that form in the clear from assembly will be taken care of at final sanding. And then if anyone even touches the nose i will kill them..lol

Good idea that makes sense. Your car pretty much looks like its going to be brand new. Should be nice when everything is put back together!

Re: My Project
It's a mustang..who cares..lol..sorry, had to. I have not asked about that one. The Chevy truck in the background is a good one. It's a 90's model as you can see, was in mint condition with 31,000 miles on it. He had that lift kit put on and the installers did not tighten the brake lines. He hit concrete reinforced poles going about 45 mph, very sudden stop, one of his eyes came out of the socket. He is getting better, but what a f&*k up that was.

These are a few weeks old. I almost have the car complete now. I will get some more pics up. The color is cyber grey, although the pictures don't reflect that.

Re: My Project
I have learned before you start something like this take lots of pictures and label everything.
I need some help with a couple pieces of the wiring puzzle.
I need to know what this green wire goes to? It is in the harness that goes to the starter.

I need to know what this relay is for...something with ac i think. It is in the harness with the 2 fan wires.

I need to know what this little plug on this black wire goes to.

Absolutely amazing job, just wondering now that times passed. Hows that exhaust? it looks like it would drag... on everything.

Re: My Project
Thanks everyone.
I wish I could remember what that wire ended up being. That was over a year ago. Give me a day or two and I will check the car.
The exhaust does fine. The cross pipe under the oil pan is a little more oval than when it started but that is from me going over the speed bumps at work to fast. I have been able to go over any speed bump slow with no issues.
It's been a great little ride. Took me a while to get the motor completely happy, it ended up wanting 42 deg total advance and I need to rewire the blower motor harness but it still turned out like I wanted.

Re: My Project
Well, I assume I found no use for that wire with all the changes because it goes to nothing. I left it in the loom for some reason but it is not hooked up. Sorry I couldn't help.
