let me know what you guys think about my new car
hey guys i thought i'd see what you guys thought of the new car that i had purchased just yesterday. well for starters its and 87 Iroc-z. i bought it for 4k it has only 68k original miles on it. the body is still pretty nice, there are a few places where theres small amounts of rust. along with some clear coat missing in other, otherwise u cant tell unless your looking for it. heres probably the best part the previous owner had set it up for autocross racing and the original l98, and the 700r4 and almost anything else u would want rebuilt, is rebuilt with only maybe 500 miles. the trans is completly built, not sure with what but ill be getting all his reciepts soon. one more thing is when i opened up the hood i was completely suprised with what i found, i saw that the manifold has already been replaced with and accel super ram intake along with headers and a full accel ignition. so what do you guys think?

Nice. A good detailing will go a long way. I'd want to paint the headlight buckets black if it were mine. Looks like a good car for the money, especially with a fresh drivetrain

oh it definitely was! ive know of this car for probably about a year and a half or more since it was a buddy of mines neighbor. well my buddy told my that it probably had some intake or work done to the intake. i was thinking new runners, maybe a manifold or port work done. but when i finally got it home last night. i was like i gotta see that motor finally, so when i popped the hood, there was the superram! doesnt get any better then that!

It looks like the guy who previously owned it used it as the infomercial on this site says. You know the one where they talk about being able to fit ski's in the back? Which makes me think that is where the back seat got those little dents from. Yeah I have seen it also have an 87 IROC

Hello jtlockwood88!!
Nice ROC!!!
Keep it stock, well, mostly stock, sleeper is the word!!!
Some cars are crappy styled right from the drawing board, through the factory, and into the owners hands, other cars, like the Thirdgen Camaro, are almost perfect in that they have that "look" that says it all, and there is no improving on it!!
The 1987 IROC-Z is the best of the bunch!!!

i dont plan on really do much with it only making it better. i already love the look of it, so for exterior i would only change the wheels either with tt2 or c6 zo6 wheels otherwise im not touching it. hell it still even has the stock exhaust on it and i actually love the way sounds has a nice low rumble, sounds good at WOT then is quiet enough when cruizing that you can have a normal conversation and if i ever want to make it louder, thats what the cutouts for lol

Re: let me know what you guys think about my new car
i know these are the sought after ones for the third gens, but i believe ill keep the wheels just so i can always have the original. also for now i just plan on basically restoring it, such as repaint it, and fix some of the minor imperfections just as needs a new dash pad, center console lid, door panels. also i have a set of 97-02 camaro leather seats that im considering putting in it but getting them recovered to match before i put them in. but either way the original ones need recovering, they arent worn but have some stains

I hear you on the wheels!!!

My son has, via me, a 1989 IROC-Z that kind of needs a little TLC also!!
It needs an interior detailing/new drivers side seat cover, as it has a little bit of a wear spot down to the foam from what looks like a set of keys!!!
It needs paint, the clear coat is worn off in spots from over polishing, and prior accident damage!!
There are some nagging idle issues, and a small oil leak from the oil pan.......I'm hoping it's the oil pan!!

I had to get another original steering wheel, as the previous owner decided to chuck it due to a "brown goo oozing" from it!!

All in all, it's not that bad of a car, just some TLC needed, my son wanted to "PIMP IT OUT" so to speak, and I just couldn't let him do that!!! So we struck a deal, he puts this one back to all original condition, then he can get another one to do what he wants to do to it!!!

I'll have no problem with that if it's an original V-6 car, but you can't destroy an original numbers matching V-8 car!!!

Have fun doing your mods/restoration, I know I do, that's half the fun of owning a Camaro!!

now, i just thought id get your guys opinion. i really wanna go with C6 ZO6 now the only thing im not sure of is the size. i either wanna go with 17x9.5 or 18x9.5 ive seen both of those sizes on our cars. but theres one thing though on the 17's the company that im looking at makes a set that the face is polished while the inside is painted black which looks very similar to my stock irocs which would be pretty sweet

17's look good, but 18's are the max that I would go on my car!!

P.S. There's no problem with looking for an upgraded/dated wheel, but keeping with the same style is the secret!!

thats what i was thinking with those wheels, i love the look of them anyways and since having the car i realized how similar they are especially when they are done up like the picture i posted. whats ironic though is i originally wanted to put those wheels on an 88 formula 350 i have and always had that idea in the back of my head

Well guys, ive got some horrible news about my camaro. well someone decided to try and start the car on fire. luckily it was damaged really that bad, i mean that i was thinking it could have been worse but atleast i can fix it. also the guy was arrested and has been charged with 3rd degree arson. plus on top of that at one point he had threated to kill both my dad and i so now he has to deal with that.
Probably whats most F*!@ed up about it is that not only did he screw with my car but he did it around 12:30am christmas morning.

Your just down the road in Lincoln? I'm in Omaha and I know there are alot of rednecks around but since when did they start lighting up their car of choice "Russian style"? You would think they would have used a shotgun or something. Hey if I see that guy around my house he is going to get a whooping! Sorry to hear about the car though. Is the guy going to pay for the damages or are you stuck with fixing it up?

Yeah it ****ing sucked coming home to this but from what i can tell it was put out pretty quickly so besides the plastic around the fill area it seems like it burned the paint, the hatch seems fine there a lil soot on the window, but we wont know till it goes to the body shop, luckily i know one of the best body guys in my town so im gonna take it to him. even though i was gunna repaint it, i just didnt want it to be like this though

yeah, theres kinda more to the whole gf story though, but yeah luckily they actually caught the guy just down the street from my house with the gas can still in his jeep. also i just talked to the attorneys who are handling the case and hes being charged with a class 3 felony arson. which here could mean up to 20yrs or atleast a minimum 1yr. plus on top of that he will pay to fix my car and it will not only be as nice as it was before but as good as new

who knows when they started doing that but in a way i was relieved when i came home cause i was picturing it to be alot worse such as burned more, broken windows, busted up body panels, i even pictured him taking an axe to it. the guys a complete psycho, about 2months before he threated to kill me if i ever talked to or saw my current gf and if he ever saw my dad he would kill him as well. and yes, im gonna try and get him to pay for everything, its gonna get a complete paint job.
Also who know something like this could happen in lincoln lol

Sorry to hear the news!!

You have some special people living in your neck of the woods!!

Hopefully your car comes out of this better than before the special person tried to customize it by fire!!

Keep us posted, and show pictures of the finished work!!

Hopefully the special person doesn't get off with an insanity plea!!!

I hate being the one to point it out, but it is painfully obvious that the repaint is not the same color as the rest of the car. But, happy to hear that its back on the road.
