Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

Good stuff marokid! I for one am glad you are snatching them up before they get scrapped. Some people dont realize that if you didnt do that, the good dash pads, interior parts, tail lights, front clips, etc would all be destroyed. You can fix up a rusty body...but you cant fab up those parts. You need originals. Because there certainly isnt a vast array of aftermarket parts for us.

Its always sad to see a car go. But once there is no title, and major body issues...its really not worth keeping unless its something special. If no thirdgen was ever parted out...there would be a crap ton of half finished cars rolling around haha.

Wish I needed some parts Ide give you some business!!

I'd be flipping/fixing cars also (if I had the place for it), but dealing with hagglers drives me batshit crazy. Interesting pics though.

That gold one you're looking at has a rare color scheme IIRC. That whole zebra interior and the like. Could be wrong, but I've only see one of these and it was in a yard completely destroyed. Same color, same interior.

Dude, dont part out the funky color camaro. the gold one. You should at least do a little more research on it before doing so, see if you can track down some paperwork, a previous owner, something. And it's not it bad conditon. If thats what you call a parts car, it makes me concerned. Also I do think what your doing if very benificial to the 3rdgen community, keep up the good work.

That's a felony if you do that. Not a good idea to mess around with state controlled documentation and you never know what's going to happen, or what people are going to dig for. If you want to do it right you need to apply for a new title. Obviously, that's going to cost some money.. but it may be worth it to the right person.

im not concerned about this particular car on filing for paperwork.....its just another parts car....but just to show you im not evil when it comes to parting these rides out.....i came across a 82 hardtop all original pace car...with no title and have taken all the proper steps to save it....it will be restored properly sllowly bjt surely......this golden camaro like the other parts cars funds my restorations on other camaros....so ya win some ya lose some...

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

Why not just find a different car to get a drivetrain out of since obviously you have found many parts cars, instead of taking apart a car that looks basically flawless...pretty nice paint, super nice interior...just my 2 cents. Seems like a waste of a really nice car.

I would have to agree with puma that your kindof wasting a lot of nice cars just because they dont have titles. I'm pretty sure that tan camaro is nicer than a few cars I've seen on here that are peoples daily drivers

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

This is a car forum...everyone is entitled to their opinions and 2 cents. If you didn't want peoples opinions then why did you post a thread? I was being totally nice and just saying that I don't agree with what your doing...enough said.

I have seen other cars on here that are rusted on the outside with completely faded paint jobs and horrible interior but they still love the car despite this. You don't have to be a fab shop just to fix some things. It just takes time and money and research andd advice which is offered on this website by many people. I don't want to argue with you just stating my opinion plain and simple.

I can see your point, but until you've gone through that mess with paperwork sometimes it's just not worth the headache. I'm sure he'd be more than willing to sell the whole car to someone that feels differently though provided he makes his money off of it. I went through that title problem ONE time, and I don't ever want to do that again.

Some people will stay poor because they don't understand the logic behind what you are doing. But ya I'm sure if Marokid wanted to put the time and effort into fabricating and fixing floorpans and rust he would, but the truth is that metal fabrication can take to long when you need to be consistently making money.

Parting out and fixing vehicles to sell is risky business and its not for everyone. Its not for me because I'm very particular about whats right and what isn't, therefore I almost always get to close to my selling price.

However a non-titled car can be worth saving if you have the right credentials. In other words have your own auto repair business and send in a registered letter, they are easily obtainable. Just takes a longggg time.

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

a good point to think about....if i were to restore a car per say.....and it needed panels or interior or in this cars case......floorboards.....where would i get those parts? to restore it like all the diehard camaros guys are persistent on doing.......i woulld still have to get camaro parts from a camaro being parted... which is exactly why i do what i do

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

I dont see the problem here. I did the same thing when I was younger, made it to #14 before Id had enough. Got tired of people like puma making the job more difficult than it needed to be. For the record, Ive still got 3 (about to part the POS GTA), flipped 2 and killed 9. The keepers have been money pits, flipped cars I barely broke even, and parted cars made 3-10x what I had in them. Not a hard decision when you think about it

I for one think a is in order for the OP for helping dozens of other enthusiasts keep their toys on the road

Unless you are personally ready to pay him for this "nice rusted out no title car" so you can restore it yourself, shut up and quit whining. I don't see anyone here that had offered to buy it, all I see is a bunch of bystanders. If you're gonna make a stink about it, then put your money where your mouth is and pay the man.

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

If a car has no title you part it out. Its a hassle to get one. Plus if the shell is nice for parts why not part it out? He is parting a car to save a car. If you guys want the junk cars so bad buy them. If people didn't part out cars you guys wouldn't have parts. I think i need to say this one more time HE IS PARTING A CAR TO SAVE A CAR. Heres a 1991 Firebird my dads work is parting out, it has a salvage title and its a HUGE turd.

FWIW: I know there's a place that does fast title turnaround (and it's legit titling) but that last time I heard someone do it, it ran about $680. Can't remember which (I'd have to look it up) but you end up with a clean title for the money. I think the wait was still like 2-3 months though.

You can buy a roadworthy 3rd gen thats not a complete POS for that much. No title = parts car

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

agreed.....when you buy a camaro to part out your already spendin some dough there...then another 700 to title it?.....lets just say you pay 1500....plus you woulld have to fix it up and other investment in it.....if the car was rare or sentimental go for it....if i had unlimted funds and a large warehouse to store these cars....and if they were selling for the price of a restored 67 camaro....hell yeah id do it to every single car....but i like everyone else have limited funds a 2 car garage(already packed with 2 third gens) and these cars wont selll for high enough to make a profit really after a correct restoation.....not trying to hurt anyones feelings...but simply its a parts car

They make reproduction floorboards for our cars now. Hawk's sells them.

Ebay almost always has some NOS body panels, be it hoods, quarter panels, fenders, GFX, or door skins. I've seen every body panel on ebay in the last six months.

Re: 18 years old....and 34 camaros/firebirds and couting!!!!

There's a few companies making aftermarket body panels, but they fit like crap. I know from experience on one of the ones I fixed up.

If you can even find NOS stuff it's not cheap by any means. Getting solid oem parts from a parts is more economical. Plus the thirdgen community in general is cheap so most aren't going to buy NOS anyways.

The problems with floor pans is you have to buy half the floor and it costs 300 dollars and thats 1 side of the floor so 2 sides is 600 dollars for that he could buy another parts car LOL

That's the cost of this hobby...cars aren't cheap to play with, never have been, but ours are comparatively cheap.

Hey I never said I'd do it. I actually said I WOULDN'T. Just saying - if you want to save the car, go for it.. but be prepared to spend some money.

The teal RS I posted, I bought for $500 for the sole purpose of putting the interior into the blue iroc that I sold marokid. I still made $1,000 off it after using the interior. I use the seats and plastic panels, and center console.

If the Gold Z-28 is rare i wouldn't part it out. But research it first, it might be worth tucking away or selling it to someone who will fix it.

Why is it that your comments always seem antagonistic? Feels like you are trying to start something all the time, chill out and try not to be so confrontational, you attitude is not appreciated nor cool.
