Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!
326K and you even thought of using it??? That is well beyond a usable life of even a factory fuel injected engine. I use car-part.com to find all my engines. Its always worked out good and gotten good deals. Picked up my 5.7 vortec back in 05 for 1100$ from a 2000 cadilac escalade 40K , so you should be able to find a used 6.0 thats 5 years old for around the same loot

Maaco will be spraying it and yea shes a little roughed up but shes a tough one. Gauges are alright however i want a new overlay for them never really liked the yellow lettering. Steering wheel yes however it will be a 91-92 steering wheel, seats dash and console are 4th gen but never liked the gap that the 93-96 camaros had

for 40$ and you are even debating it?!?!?! LOL that is the same place that made my gauges i think. That display looks pretty damn cool, personally i'd put it in my car if i had that style gauge. Since i have factory 86 gauges i went with those. Still want that 4th gen dash though!!!!

Small update started to redo the engine bay(after seeing others mine wasnt smoothed enough) worked on cleaning some of the chassis harness out of the way I also ordered the new display and should know sometime how much MDR wants for a paint job heres pics
Also instead of having 5-6 wires going to the pos. now theres just 1

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!
MDR told me (before I started working there) $500 to respray half of my car where the paint is chipped and faded. Should be under $1000 for white if we do a simple scuff-spray-clear. I'm far from the boss though, but that is just my rough estimate.

Itll be awhile before i can get it down there due to its sitting on jack stands but yea he said it could be cheaper since theres no hatch on it plus i dont need the engine bay sprayed i told him id disassemble it to he said he would have his painter come check it out but $3500 is base price

Paint. That way you can have an engine bay matching your car.
Or buy a 6.0/t56, and build the 6.0 while the car is getting painted.

The engine bay will be done black which i can do that myself so whether i did motor/trans first or paint first the engine bay will be masked off im leaning towards paint first unless i run into a good deal on motor or trans

If you aren't going to paint your engine bay, then I'd do motor/tranny first because if you have my luck you'd scratch the hell out of your brand new paint job putting them in.

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!
Thanks only need headliner, overhead console, and seat belts as for the rims found out they wanted $250 for the rims which is more than what there worth, the other three they dont have on display were chipped and had the clear flaking and they were the wrong bolt pattern......

Damn you have made a lot of progress since the last time I saw the car! I'm still working on my 86, but ended up with an 87 IROC so now the majority of my effort is going to go towards it. The body on the 87 is in way better condition and it is a factory 5 speed.
Oh and I don't have the diamond plate shifter cover anymore someone stole it along with a set of 15" bent rims I was going to trade in as scrap LOL!

Aw, c'mon... it'll buff out! Just needs a little elbow grease!
Nice find man, I love cars like this. Limitless potential with a low sticker price! You can literally do just about anything you want with the car and you don't even have to tear it down first because somebody did it for ya already!
