Last update before I have to leave for work...
Got the new door panels/armrest on the door, which I hope to have on by tomorrow...

now i just need the upper door trim..
Thats just the passenger door.
For the driver side door I still need the panel with the lock switches before i can put it on there correctly...

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Some progress today guys....
I decided against changing out the doors I figured it would be easier to just stick with the manual windows since all the wiring to change over to the electric lock/window's would be a PITA...
Put in the door panel and armrest on the passenger side door today the driver side will be in tomorrow...
Some pics

Yes, unfortunately I did have to make a small incision for the window crank to come out.
Yeah i know, I know i should have bought another one instead of ruining this one, people like me are the reason thirdgen owners are frowned upon

On my "Highschool kid" budget I really cant afford to be that meticulous, sorry...
Anyways I also changed out the rocker panel..

now I have two shades of red on my car lol
Damn and my back tire is FLAT!!!!

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
The VATS decided to go out on the car today.
For the last three days my family and I have been moving all of our stuff to our new house. Hadn't touched the car until today.
Since the new house is about 30 minutes away towing it there is not an option, instead a buddy of mine is going to let me store it in his shop until I able to get everything situated....
My plans for the car have changed somewhat after I get the car drive able (tags, tires, etc.)
I'm going to start saving for an l31

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Thanks man!
I also can not wait to have it on the road.
As of now I am trying to get everything at work situated since I moved pretty far from my last job I had to transfer to a different location.
Still trying to get all that settled. So as of now there are no funds coming in for the car

Hopefully in about 2 weeks I can have the VATS taken care of and after that I will move on to whatever other problems the engine seems to be having....
Really wish I could just tear out that POS v6 and throw in a 350 already

UPDATE
As of now the car is pending sale....
I have been out of work for about a month now and I dont have any money for the car and nor do I have space for it, so it will be gone soon...
I do wish to get another one after I get everything situated with my job though...
Thanks to everyone who folllowed this short lived thread... I hope you follow my next one too.
Next time I want to save up about 2 or 3 grand and get one with a straight body that doesnt need paint, the engine will not matter because soon I will have access to an LB9 to throw in..... and ill just move on from there...

Yeah i hear ya Im still not over my first one unfortunately it was more like taken from me then sold...
More details on that here:https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...s-wrecked.html
As of now I have come to terms with the fact that my car is not in the condition that I wish it was and no matter how much it pisses me off it could be worse and I am fortunate to have it....
Im just going to tough it out and start putting more money into it as soon as I can.... I have already come along way from its original state and made it my own there is no use in me starting all over again.....
but i still feel putting money into that v6 suckssssssssssss!!!!!

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
The problem at the moment is the VATS that went out on me about a month ago now, at the same time that I stopped working...
I hear that I can get it all reprogrammed and fixed correctly for about 200 bucks..
Or I can just bypass the VATS entirely for cheaper...

Dont know much about wheel fitment and all but I know you can hit up the wheels thread (here:https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/wheels-tires/) and you can definitely find either a sticky or some experts who can help you out.... I see you only have seven post on the board So welcome to TGO that being said your are still a "noob" I would like to let you know myself and many other members have found that also using the search tool helps you out plenty, (which can be found at the top of the board) ....

Oh yeah and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
I finally landed another Job so soon this project will be moving forward again cant wait!
The first thing I am going to do is get the vats bypassed and after that im going to get some new injectors hopefully once I get that done all my engine problems will go away and I can start taking care of some of the other problems.
Here's the list of what I need before the car is driveable
Here is the list of my future mod's
At the moment it has 170k miles on hopefully it can last me through my senior year of highschool and most of my college years if by then it begins to give I will decide if I want to rebuild this engine or get a new 350 for it.
At the moment I am stuck between Arctic White, Jet Black, Or Aqua Blue Metallic. Hopefully I can get this soon It will most likely be my first major mod after the engine.
The rest will slowly come together but those are the ones I want to start with.
Once I get my fourth gen rear end and I now longer have to use spacers or adapters to fit corvette wheels I am going to decide between some c6's and c5's.
I want to try and get some 4th gen seats from the junkyard and have them reupholstered...
Well those are the plans... We will so how it goes...

Man, this thread made me start reminiscing about my old bird that I had when I was a senior in high school..This whole thread reminded me exactly of my story back in the day. You made the right choice keeping it though. I unfortunately didn't and I still regret it. Good luck and you've got another follower!

Is medium quasar blue the color that came stock?
I was talking about this color:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...91636.jpg/sr=1
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...78/Camaro2.jpg
And I really like this Arrival blue that came on The Silverado's
http://images.gtcarlot.com/pictures/1570893.jpg
The SFC's will probably be one of the last things I get for the suspension. It will make the biggest improvement..

Nice project car man, focus on one thing at a time, if you go tearing a bunch apart the job seems to take forever... trust me LOL. i miss having mine move under its own power, AND really miss driving it. a little here, a little there and youll have that thing mint in no time.
as for the color, of course id say Black LOL but ive seen arctic flat white before and THAT looked pretty cool. as for blue im personaly not a blue fan but the prettiest blue ive gotta say ive ever seen is the new 370Z blue... that color seems to go as deep as the ocean.
dont rush it, take your time and have fun with it.
Good Luck on the rest bro.

At the moment I think i am sold on blue particularly the blue that came in 92, Medium Quasar Blue. Like bluezee28's vert (one of my favorite cars on this board
)
Props to bluzeeIm not a big fan of flat but when its done right it looks good like your car...
My car also will soon be down as the plans have changed for the engine I figured its not worth putting any money into that v6 and Im thinking its not even worth putting money into the 305 that I can get from my bro...thinking about hitting up a junkyard and finding a L98 (if i get lucky enough) i will by a rebuild kit for it and move on from there..
whichever comes first if I can find a good engine before my brother pulls his engine out then thats what I will go with...
and yeah ive seen that blue your talking about its right there with the Medium Quasar Blue just a bit lighter.

Well if your plan is to hit up the junkyard keep an eye out for a complete vortec 350. They came in both the trucks and the conversion vans, I can't remember specific years, it's been a long day. They make about 255 HP stock. You'll have way better luck finding one at a junkyard, or atleast that's what i've discovered up where I'm from. They make a lot of power very easily if you ever wanted to throw more money at it in the future. IIRC they also have similar cam specs compared to the LT1.

They make a lot of power very easily if you ever wanted to throw more money at it in the future. IIRC they also have similar cam specs compared to the LT1.
Its definitely something to think about

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
So ive been doing some research on the v6 to v8 swap and this quote from five7kid pretty much sums it up
Its looking like I might have to buy a whole donor car if i want this to be done right I dont think it would be a bad idea if i can find one with with what I need for about $500 the only problem is I barely have space for my car how the hell am I going to have room for another..
I would have to get the car, strip it, and get rid of it ASAP and maybe make some money of it
going to continue doing research til my brain hurts
It isn't "easy", "quick", or "simple". But, many of us have done it, so obviously it is possible

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
So it turns out I do need a whole new tranny
Not sure what I am going to do now...
Was kinda leaning towards getting an l31 from jegs for 1900 making it carbureted and keeping the rest stock with the exception of a full exhaust about 7 maybe 800
but even then it would still cost me about 1500 to 2k more including the tranny just to get the engine to work with the car because I would need pretty much all little accessories new. pulleys, alternator, radiator, belts hoses ETC. luckily I would need little to no sensors because I would be going carb. The thing that is killing me most is the tranny...
at the end of the day I can save up the money to get the engine and everything else I just listed and it will all be good because time is not the issue because I cant drive this car til im 18 which is exactly 1year and 4 days from now lol But is it worth It???
I could fix the v6 give it a full tune up maybe throw some performance parts at it and still not even get to half of what I would be spending on the 350 and then get a paint job for it.....
I dont know what do you guys think?
