The car is not carbed. Carburetors were last used on the Camaro in 1987. Your car has a Throttle Body Injection system.

Thanks for the info Scott but my car is indeed carbureated. The previous owner did the conversion. It sucks but I rather not spend the money to put it back to stock.

Try some Mothers Back to Black on the black plastics like the grill. I've had good luck with it. Anything Mothers or Meguiars is good.

So the latest on this thing:
I detailed the area around the tail lights, under the tail lights, and above the tail lights. As usual it still needs 2 hours of more detailing to look good.

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
I will be starting on the engine detailing tomorrow.
How it currently sits:
I want to start will all the small things
Going to try and clean the over flow tank and windshield washer tank. If I dont like the way they turn out than I will most likely replace them with 4th gen ones.
After I clean it all up I am going to consider painting the entire engine bay if needed but I highly doubt it will be necessary. Especially since Dark Green Grey Metallic paint is so freakin expensive!!
I really want to get this proform kit
It'll all swap over to my 350 so it wont be a complete waste.
More updates tomorrow.

The bowtie grills are actually painted black, so just treat it like the rest of the paint. If it is really bad off you can always spray paint it, no biggie. Back to black is great on regular trim stuff though.

Thank you, your car is also very nice.
If you do find a 92 rs in this color you should definitely buy it they are pretty rare.
Ive seen 3 in total in person. Two of them are mine and the other was at a car show I went to about 4 years ago.
and on here the only other member I know of that has one is
GRNGRYOUTMYWAY his is AWESOME!

I have not done anything to the car as of late, but soon that will change. I will be working at an Oreilly parts store soon so I will be making some decent change, getting discounts on parts and overall doing what I love. Cant wait!

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
Since I got the car it has vibrated when I go about 55 or 60 according to my research these are the symptoms of a bad wheel bearing so I will be replacing this tomorrow.
Soon I will be converting the engine over to TPI. My brother is buying a FIRST TPI intake for his 383 build so he will no longer have a use for the stock one. I am hoping to have this done before May so the car can make the 15 hour trip to the colorado thirdgen meet. and than two weeks after that the 2 hour thirdgen round up in Austin lol.

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
So my brother let me drive his GTA to work the other day, it was my first time driving a car with a 350, I was pretty impressed with the response and how fast it got up to high speeds.
Anyways that got me thinking, and I've decide to ditch the idea of going turbo for now.
So After I spend about 3k on full suspension including a new rear end and an LS1 brake swap I will begin saving up for all the parts I will need to begin building the L98 i have had sitting in the garage for months....
I want a pretty simple set up. Im hoping to make like 320RWHP and about 400 Torque.
That should be more than enough to satisfy my 18 year old need for speed. For now
Its will basically be a cammed L98 with a full exhaust bored and stroked to a 383
I will be sticking with the L98 heads and the TPI intake, I will be getting my wiring harness from TPIparts.com and I guess I will be learning how to tune because paying someone is not in the budget lol
I am considering getting forged internals for when I realize I am only making 250 to the wheels, and I want to put a turbo on it lol
The cam I have been looking at is the XFI268HR
Im still trying to decide if I want to get Dyno Don headers they are really good headers from what I have read but it will kill my budget.
As for the catback I will be getting the hooker aerochamber...
I would like the keep the total under 3500 if I can.
I am hoping the biggest expense will be paying the machine shop to rebuild the heads and engine, the rest I can do myself.

I love that color. I also have a 92RS in that color. It's completely stock however but I haven't seen many others that same color. My interior is the same as well, only difference in the cars is that have t-tops which are great for cruising.

looking pretty good, very nice detail work.
FYI the big hold back on the L03 is the heads so if you wanted to wake it up a touch for now you could throw a set of heads on it. Of course buy a set you can transfer over to the 350.

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
Have not done much to the car lately.
I replaced and wired my fan to a toggle switch last week.
It had some weird Aftermarket one, it stopped turning on one day so I decided to replace it with the one from my parts car. While I was at it I rewired everything to a switch. I feel safer that way, and I can tell people the button is Nitrous
I am still weighing out my options for my engine swap. Its looking like I am going to go with a Stealth ram, Vortec heads, Dyno Don headers, and the 268 XFI Comp Cam.

Going to replace my front wheel bearings tomorrow and attempt to wire my TCC to a toggle switch.
After that it should be running good.
Soon I will get my L98 to the machine shop and start getting everything together for the swap.

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
I was supposed to begin swapping over all my TPI stuff onto the car last Monday.
But I decided that I wanted to drive it for one week before I did this because I have not done so since I have gotten it, and it will be down for a month maximum once I start on the TPI swap. There a alot of parts I still need to get in order complete the swap. Hopefully it can be done in time for the thirdgen round up.
Heres a quick mock up lol
I will officially begin removing the smog equipment sometime next week and go from there, hopefully I can have the TPI intake bolted down by the end of next week. Unfortunately thats just half the battle. Other than that I need to get the wiring harness in along with the ECM and than there are some sensors that I need to purchase. I am also still not sure if my Speedometer will work correctly with this wiring because it is from and 86.
I also need a new fuel pump/filter, and I believe I need to do some modifications to my fuel lines
I would start tearing it all apart today but my brothers GTA is down indefinitely so he has no ride to work.

The intake swap has begun
I removed the intake and disconnected all grounds, sensors, and anything else that was connected to the engine. The harness is ready to come out I just need to disconnect it from the inside.
The only wait at the moment is getting a new wiring harness. I decided to go speed density instead of using my brothers old one. If I cant find one before the end of next week than a may just have to purchase a new one.
I will also be replacing those terrible valve covers.

Before May I am going to get a full exhaust for it.
Most likely the Hooker 2460 and a Hooker muffler it should sound pretty good. It sure as hell not expecting a performance increase lol
I also am going to purchase a snorkel intake and do the Ram air mod.
hopefully I can find a nice used one somewhere other than hawksthirdgen their prices are ridiculous.
Talk about getting screwed!!

Once I get this setup running good and I get the full exhaust for it I am going to focus solely on aesthetics and just do preventative maintenance on the engine.
I want to slowly build my 383 and when I have everything for it I can just drop it all in at the same time. Instead of having the car incapacitated for months.

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
Painted my valve covers, intake and runners today.
I still need to finish painting the runners, ran out of time today.
Going to paint the base and throttle body tomorrow. Still havent decided if I am going to paint it black or silver.
Hopfully I can get it all bolted down to the engine tomorrow. I still need a wiring harness and prom to get the car to start.
I was going to get all of this powdercoated but that was going to cost way to much. I spent 23 dollars to get this job done and Im very satisfied with the outcome. A couple more touches and it will be perfect.

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
I should have this bad boy up and running again before the end of this month hopefully before the end of next week....
I will be getting this harness in soon along with the 730ECM from TGO member 89GTA383
After that I will be getting an entire TPI setup from TGO memebr ESC for very cheap and I will have everything I need besides a couple miscellaneous things.
Tomorrow I am going to buy fuel injectors from south bay and an MSD dizzy, wires and plugs from work, should be able to get it pretty cheap with my employee discount.
I also installed my valve covers today, need new bolts. These refuse to bolt all the way down for some reason.
Im thinking about just getting some proform valve covers instead... Im satisfied with the way these came out (especially since they were practically free) but they look to plain.... Ill sleep on it since getting those covers will definitely delay the entire project.

I went with these valve covers. Remember the bolts don't need to be all that tight. Like 7 ft pounds is enough

quick question about those runners, do they make a significant increase in performance? Been thinking about getting some.....

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
The harness and ECM came in a couple days ago, it also came with an MSD box....
It's all hooked up and ready to go, now all I need is the TPI base and fuel rail.
I also need to figure out what I'm going to do with my valve covers might hit up the junkyard and ****** some from another thirdgen. The ones I currently have are from an l31 they fit good but everything is backwards on them.
I'm sure there lots of glitches I still have to get figured out before I can have the car started but I'll be damned if my baby is down for another month!!!!!!!

I'm sure there lots of glitches I still have to get figured out before I can have the car started but I'll be damned if my baby is down for another month!!!!!!!

Lookin good man, hope you are back on the road soon. Don't spend too much money on the truck, it is hard enough with one project, two can be a nightmare!

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
Appreciate the advice. I actually decided to get rid of the truck. Going to save up for something more efficient.
The car is almost done, work has been taking up a ton of my time lately.
Other than that for some reason I am not getting any power to anything when I hook up the battery... Tested and charged it, still nothing. Going to have to check all my grounds and connections.

The car is getting close, finally have power!
My ECM grounds were not getting any power.
I have a couple things that need to wrapped up before I can start it but soon it will be road worthy again.
Its been a long 6 months since ive driven this thing can not f'n wait to just be able to take it for a loooong meaningless gas wasting cruise

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
The car is still down unfortunately.
After spending months of researching on here and tinkering with the wiring I discovered my harness was faulty I was not getting power to my ECM.
I did not want to spend six more months figuring out why and how to repair the POS so I purchased another one from Hawksthirdgen and wired it all up yesterday and just about everything is working like factory now. The only thing standing in my way now is VATS atleast that is what I think, my injectors are not pulsating so I am going to either get a new prom burned or bypass it. If all goes well I should finally have it running correctly by the end of this month.
But before it can leave my driveway legally I need to get tags and insurance.
I cant wait to go back to spending all my money on cleaning products and gas lol
I also would like to give a thumbs up to Bruce at hawks thirdgen, the harness is in great condition I was not very big on the price, but you get what you pay for. Totally recommend this guy for your hard to find Thirdgen parts.
Cant say much about aftermarket parts though. RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING FROM ANYONE!

Only 1 pic has worked for me, which sucks because it sounds like you're making awesome progress and I'd love to see it haha. Nice car man, love that color!

Re: Dark Green Grey Metallic 92 Rs
Thanks RTGTA. Not sure why the pics aren't working I can see them on my side.
So the car is almost ready to run. I have injector pulse and spark.
But for some reason everytime I go to turn the key it does not crank but if I put a screw driver to starter it turns just fine.
For now I'm going to wire a switch directly to the starter and see if I can get it to run like that.
Hopefully by the end of the month I can have it going.
Other than that I have a couple other issues. Like every time I put a fuse in my accessories slot the fuse blows instantly.
Also I broke the bolt on the back of my Alternator so Im either going to get a new one or try to repair that one.
I work at an Oreilly so I get a hefty discount on most things so I am leaning towards getting a new one, with my luck its bad anyways lol
More updates soon
