My latest project - 92 z28 convertible - build thread
Hey Guys,
So after searching around for a while, (and buying a 92 RS Convertible that I shouldn't have), I finally found the basis for my latest project.
The car is a 1992 Z28 convertible. 305 TPI, 58k original miles. It's obviously late 92 production for several reasons:
No "Tuned port Injecton" plate on throttle body
Black Valve covers
Rougher Vette Style Casting Runners
This car is basically an original survivor car.
All original paint / no accidents or body work. Basically stock drivetrain. Interior is 100% original down to the delco tape deck.
Motor has a 160 stat, a jet performance chip, and ALL the emissions stuff is gone. (why????).
Car has welded SFC's in it.
A/C Stuff is all there, but it blows warm, apparently never converted to r134.
Convertible top was just replaced.
My plan with this car is to build a weekend cruiser. I kind of want to modernize the car in a few ways, almost build a 3.5 gen. I have a few ideas up my sleeve.
The plan is not to change anything on the car that cannot be converted back to stock.
Here's some pics from the day she got to my shop.

Even the coolant hoses are original:

Odometer: - Even the tach works btw...

Floors etc are perfect, especially for a car that spent the last 21 years in the northeast....

So far I've just done some basic going over the car. Replacing the light bulbs in the 3rd brake light, replaced the cracked / split trans mount.
I ordered a more modern GM Radio with a CD player that should be plug and play. That will be my first "mod".
Let me know your thoughts.
George

BADNBLK - I love what you did with your z03 92. That car is awesome. I might have a convertible top install question for you in the near future. The previous owner DIY'ed mine - but there are a couple things I'm not 100% happy about.
Btw, I have a 92 RS Convertible, AND a 95 LT1 T/A here both untouched if you need anything.
Take care,
George
