1991 Camaro RS - LSX/T56 Build Thread
Well, after seven to eight years of wanting to do a LS or LT swap on my 1991 it's finally happening. I've been a member on here since 2006 or so and I forgot my old name, but I haven't posted much so here's a little background on the car:
Basically stock 91' RS (unknown miles, odometer broke at 179k in 2009)
It has a 305/T5 (just removed Sat night)
17" chrome IROCs
Z28 wonderbar
Z28 hood and eyeliner
Z28 grill
96' LT1 rear end with 3.42's
I've owned the car since 2006 (first car) and it is long past due for a complete overhaul. I returned from deployment last January and purchased a totaled 1998 Z28 LS1/T56 donor car. Fortunately I got the car and an extra set of 02 SS anniversary wheels for $4600. Everything was well documented on the car including all the mods:
LS1 was replaced in 2001 due to some kid blowing the motor
Rebuilt T56 in 2012
New clutch - 800 miles on it
MS4 cam w/ valve springs
Dyno tuned at Texas Speed Performance in Lubbock, TX (390 rwhp - 387 rwtq)
Long tube headers (not sure which kind)
Borla exhaust
Full BMR suspension other than K-member/control arms, Bilstein shocks
17" chrome C6 wheels with new BFG SS's
All interior intact
Rear end was snapped in half upon impact and rear quarter/driver door is smashed
Once I have the engine/transmission out I will begin parting the 98' out. I've been doing a lot of research and still unsure of some routes I will be taking, hopefully I can get some of yall's input on the way! Here's what the plans are so far:
LS1/T56 (keeping A/C)
LS1 aluminum driveshaft
Hawk's Third Gen (HTG) 1 7/8 LT headers
HTG wiring harness conversion (not even going to try tackling that on my own)
HTG A/C plumbing
BMR K-member
BMR tubular control arms (unsure if I should go with a coilover setup or stay traditional)
BMR transmission crossmember w/ torque arm bracket
BMR or UMI torque arm
BMR or UMI subframe connectors
BMR or UMI rear LCA's with relocation brackets
91'-92' Z28 gauge cluster
Z28 steering box
Leather seats from 98' donor car
98'-02' brake conversion from bigbrakeupgrade.com
I'm looking forward to this build and I will keep y'all posted on the way through it. I will post some pictures later when I get home. Thanks guys.

Welcome!
Just a thought, talk to Pocket on here, he makes LSx conversion harness and from what i hear he is the best. Plus from what I have heard, they are new harness, not spliced together versions, and he will work with you to make sure you get everything you want.
Also, i would look at Founders Performance for your suspension needs, i have had great luck with them so far.
Otherwise it sounds like a heck of a build.

Just a little update:
Called BMR today and ordered parts for the front suspension minus a few odds and ends. Ordered tubular K-member, tubular A-Arms with coilover conversion kit, Koni Yellow shocks, transmission crossmember with torque arm bracket, adjustable torque arm and boxed sub frame connectors.
Here's some pictures of the 91' and the donor car:
Here's a picture of it the day I got it:
And pictures of the donor car:
