Project: Yes I Need a 2nd Thirdgen
You know when you see a car on the internet, and say "I really need to buy that". Well, thats exactly what I did. Again.
I tried to find the Highest optioned example of a 85-86 Iroc out there. Its really close, and honestly the best Car I have found so far. So I went with it.
Here it is. 1985 Iroc Z28, Sliver, 305 TPI/700R4, 4 Wheel Disc, 3.42 Posi, Lear Siegler Interior
Every Factory option minus T-Tops, Power Seat, Console Clock, and Rear Defrost (which is rare in its own right I suppose).
The story goes that the Original Owner Only drove the car for a few years. Then started a family, so he parked the car. Time got the best of him, and the car sat for 20+ years in his driveway. His health began to decline so His kids sold the car knowing that he could never truly drive/Restore it. The 2nd owner only had the car a few months before I got my hands on it, and was in the process of restoring it (as you can see in the pictures). The sun really did a number on the paint, and faded the interior a bit but none the less the car is in really good shape. It only has 45,xxx miles. Its all factory down to the wear parts. Still has the retaining washer on the brake rotors. Sadly The Gatorbacks are gone. Not sure what direction I am gonna go with this one. Planing on adding all the options its missing minus the oil cooler,T-Tops, and rear defrost. Thinking All Tubular suspension, And simple improvements along the way as stuff needs to be replaced. With the crazy rising costs of Iroc-Z cars I am happy to get my hands on one with all these options while I still could.

I wouldn't paint it, fix the interior bits, and get it in running shape and drive the wheels off it.

Drove the Iroc home from the Barn I rent. Had to get it out of there. For a car that has not seen the road since 89, rolling on firebird PW7 wheels, It felt like the 45k mile car it is. well Until the rad hose blew in the garage. Note the green rag. Radio worked well. Speakers did not like bass at all. But worked none the less. Shield your eyes. Pay no attention to the cobra. This is a thirdgen site lol.

I absolutely love that thing. Wanna sell it?? It'd look a lot better sitting next to my Z rather than that Mustang lol. Great find!!! And of course, killer color combo! Here's what it needs to be in the garage next to hehe

Been A very long time. Back home for good now. Got the Iroc started up with a new radiator. 1985 one had a very small crack that is getting repaired. Need to keep all the date codes on this one.
New 595 Federals that have been sitting since 2019. But whos keeping track of time?

I Really want to Modify this car But not sure If I should. I am having the OE Paint Corrected. I have a Black Bose gold kit, Console clock, 140 "Z28" aftermarket cluster, and a few other period correct goodies like Mr Gasket "Camaro" valve covers and a Grant Console/Shifter lock NOS. With Iroc Prices the way they are, and this being a 45k mile car OE Down to wear parts (minus Battery and Tires), Not sure messing this thing is a good idea.

Yeah, but most of the things he's talking about are easily reversible. I say make the changes that make you happy, but keep the originals in case you want / need to switch back.

Some of the bulbs in the dash were burnt out. Replaced with new LEDs. One of the only changes made by the first owner was a 86 and up 145 speedo. I swapped it out for a period correct 140 "Z28". The 145 was jumping and the 140 is too. Gonna have to dig into it.

Finally added my NOS "Z28" Splash guards to the car. Just the rear for now as I'm waiting on parts. Too lazy to let the car down just to put it back up. Also got a new TPI emblem for the rear bumper. Huge in comparison to the OE badge. Looks good though.

Added the correct power seat/seat bezel on the LS seats. The Recaro Cars used this same version. Very hard to come by. Been collecting them for years.
Added the center console clock. Had to cut the holes for the switches. Honestly need to invest in a good Dremel. Had the Harbor freight version for years. PSA don't try to heat up the Seconds arm to bed it back into place. Doesn't turn out well. Had to murder two clocks to make one. Came out good with the repainted red needle. Even the connector was connected to the harness.
I have had this for years NOS. Its made by grant for the Camaros. Never seen another like it, but I'm sure some of the old timers on here have. honestly a very strong piece.
Found one of the 2 build sheets on the car too. Under the passenger's seat.

Added a 5in rear wing. This is the showcars brand off ebay. Total piece of crap cannot stress this enough. No mounting provisions whatsoever. I had to fiberglass some in. Still not done with it. But its on there. Also added some cregar rear window louvers.
