1989 MM5, DX3, N10, G92, Hardtop with 52k miles mini-restoration and repair

I did not start a thread when I first bought this car like I wanted to, but I bought a mostly original 89 Iroc that I am putting back as OEM as possible and repairing the small issues it had

-repaired antenna
-remove front plate and refinish grill
-repaint trim
-refinish foglight surrounds
-plugs
-all new N10- exhaust
-removed factory dealer emblem(but kept)
-new aftermarket Tuned Port Injection emblem
-Lloyds mats
-repaired faulty temp guage
-replaced one cracked door sill
-Trans refresh and new clutch
-new overflow tank

I want to correct the paint and we should be about finished with it. It's a VERY cool car.

I don't have many pictures on here, but will post some of the process soon.

For now here is the last video I made about it.

As she came home. I thought the dealership emblem was cool, so I still have it, but it is removed

Had Hedman headers and Borla Catback. I wanted it back factory!

GT steering wheel removed and the factory reinstalled...

Repaired the temp gauge getting stuck up! (Do they almost all do this or what?)

Took the front end apart for a quick refreshing...... Nothing major. It paid huge diidends in overall appearance though!

Maybe I am the only one, but I hate power antennas on these cars!

New coolant tank! Word of advice. Do NOT get the OER one. I got two from them and both had cracked nipples. The one from Hawks has the correct stamping on it and is MUCH higher quality!

I was fitting a "no heat" issue. The TB was capped off allowing NO FLOW through the heater core(look in the hose on the right and you can see the cap still in the line!). Strange what you find on cars this old... Removed it and no leaks and the heat and AC both work great!

A little before/after on the rear bumper...

Refinished some correct LB9 manifolds to match to the aftermarket N10 Y-pipe and Walker/Mac catback

Luckily I found the correct N10 exhaust connection!

My girlfriend helps with the details! Painted all the locks, and rear trim for me...

Test corrected one panel. It is going to look GREAT when finished!

Trans replacement and exhaust removal/replacement!

I'm sure you're not the only one, but I love mine! Barney Eaton rebuilt mine too.

What did you use to paint the exhaust manifolds?

Just flat black high temp manifold paint IIRC. It was the highest temp stuff I could find at the parts stores.

Several heat cycles later it looks great

So the antenna does work now? I would question any antenna repair from someone that can't spell antenna. If the power antenna issue was the broken nylon, there's been discussions and repairs done using cable to replace the nylon. And it works well.

Yes. It works great now. I found him from here, actually. Mine did had the broken line. He replaced it with a coated metal line( I believe)and repaired my slightly tweaked mast at a reasonable cost.
