So after lurking on this site for 20 years, this is my 84 Z28. I purchased at auction in January 1998. Was a 50k car all original that got hit in the suspension. Looked like someone hit the drivers front wheel when it was turned and car parked or something. Minimal body damage, just had to replace the control arm/strut and fender. Had front clip painted at the time.
Then 3 months later I rear ended someone pretty good (it was my fault, i swear). Over the winter 98/99 I replaced the front clip and had the entire car painted. Paint still holding up all these years later. Definitely has its spots here and there but would consider it a good 5-10 footer.

2004 with around 70k miles, I put in a 355 crate motor from a local engine shop. Blew 2nd gear in I believe it was 18 miles. shortly after lent car to my brother for a day so i could work on his, and got it back with a spun bearing. I'm guessing he overrevved it on a downshift to a gear that no longer existed, but never got the "real" story... Engine shop fixed the spun bearing then a few hundred miles later, the engine was misfiring. The hacks im guessing reused the head gasket and it was bad. Also found the Cam was worn badly. I was fed up at that point and I delicately placed the engine with about 500 miles on it that was out of the car twice on the front steps of the engine builders shop. Put the 305 back in and drove the rest of season with no 2nd gear.
Around 2005 I purchased a 1983 z28 that had all new lowering springs, Lakewood control arms & trackbar. Swapped them in and sold the car to a buddy who put an LT1 in it. Also swapped the 700R4 for a 1986 700R4 that i had rebuilt with shift kit.
2007 (with around 81,000 miles) I put in a 355 with old school Fuelie heads that I bought from a good friend of mines father. 13:1 compression "circle track" motor somewhere around 375-400 HP if i had to guess. I have my doubts on the 13:1 but have never had the engine apart. I would get knocking on pump gas unless had the timing set way back. I've always had to run 50/50 Pump 93 and Sunoco 110 up until last year when I kept getting Ethanol jelly in the carburetor. Now I only run 110. I also went through 2-3 starters within days until getting a legit old school original GM starter out of a 67 327 so may be it is that high of a compression ratio but idk, i'd expect more power. Feels about the same as the first one I had which was a 375HP track engine. Engine does have screens in the valley but otherwise from what I've seen, valvetrain looks mostly stock. 2007 Engine Installed 2007 Engine Installed
Since then, I started a business so the car sat for the better part of 10 years. I always kept it running and would take it around the block a couple times a year. Finally in 2018 got motivated and got her back on the road. Since have done all brakes/lines, struts, shocks, sway bar links, added a wunderbar, and have done new cat back, tires, pully/accessory kit and a bunch of other stuff that I can't recall right now.
Can't believe I've owned this car for 26 years. I've tried to keep it original looking minus the rims & lowering springs. Also hated the factory red/orange stripes so went to silver/black. Interior is all original and aside from one small cigarette burn on front seat and missing headliner (was already removed when I purchased car) i'd say its one of the nicest original interiors I've seen in a third gen. Dash perfect, no cracks. Car is not perfect, far from it, but heck of a lot of fun to drive and still gets some looks!
