has all the tpi fuel injection parts
Speed density car
ws6
all new suspention parts
new tires

it does have the wrong hood on it(but i like it)

That's nice! Good score for 600, for sure. I think that's a great color and it looks clean and straight. Good luck installing an engine/trans - it should turn out to be an awesome car.

well im thinkin bout using the tpi for now so i can drive the car and then upgrading to slp eunners and such. then, when i can afford the HSR or gm mini ram ill go that route.

The 327 isnt a monster but good for mid to low 12's with good heads. I ironically have a set of 083 l98 iron heads on the 327. I just want the car to run and drive. If it runs faster than my buddies blistering 13.4 lt1 6spd car ill be happy

Go Carb man..it will make it so much easyer to finish and less wires..much cleaner look also. Carbs are not bad if you know what your doing when jetting and tuning..

thanks and yes im staying fuel injected. I have had more problems with carb on my 85 trans am ive had enough.

I have to buy front drive accessorizes for my car also.

and i have checked and triple checked that its a 92 trans am. One of lowest produced cars due to hype over the 93 trans am.

so ive got 1 of 950(ish) made trans ams for 92

I cant wait to get it home and start putting it back together with my 327

It looks like you made out for $600. Is that just surface rust on the driver's side roof?

yes its very light.

big thing im actually excited about is the airbag and 4 wheel disc brakes

i know for a while my poor 327 is going to be choked down with the tpi, but im going to make this fuel injected car work

That was a great buy. The wheels and tail lights are worth more than $ 600 if they are in good shape. And yes keep it TPI. Carbs are a thing of the past.

You should be able to find a complete accessory setup from a wrecking yard. Pretty sure a 305 or 350 tpi car will have what you need. It will be much easier to find a relatively complete donor engine than to try and piece it together yourself.

even a tbi v8 serpentine bracket will work, they're the same so yeah,a junkyard score should be pretty easy.

and toyota h8r, Glad to hear you sticking with the TPI!
and let your dad know that, you could probably EASILY triple your money back if you decided to just part it out.The wheels, taillights and wing alone are pretty sought after pieces, not to mention the gfx.(esp. if you have the front fender pieces)Trust me!I have bought all the parts listed above except the wheels and spent way more than 600!lol!
Take a browse at my photobucket album if you want to see how that car could look with a little TLC! and alot of time

I wouldn't even bother "upgrading" the TPI. Just got straight to an HSR or some other intake. The runners alone, unless used, will put you near the price of the whole HSR intake.

I like that body style.

Re: Just bought 1992 trans am

Nice pickup I got a "now" running complete 91 GTA over the summer. Dad was against it at first too. But the trailer showed up LOL.

How many miles on the chassis

I like the color. Stay TPI and work within your means. Aluminum ds is a common upgrade from late model 4th gens. It seems like the car was in a transition stage.
Sell the mini fridge to prove to dad you can recoup money right away on the car if you needed it! Good luck and keep us updated.

I am planning actually to use a LT1 intake converson for my car. A friend is willing to give it to me for all the work ive done on his 84 trans am and his 95 trans am.

im just looking right now for someone to do all the conversion stuff to the intake and the other things i need like the fuel line conversion things

Then try an LM7 for starters. $700 for a complete 5.3 w/ harness and computer is hardly astronomical.

That's what I'm doing.

Re: Just bought 1992 trans am

most 5.3s are rated at 270-300hp stock. With headers that probably goes up a bit, but swap headers are outrageously expensive. you'd also need motor mounts which aren't too bad. I think an f-body or GTO pan will fit? bah, i might as well stop now, i'm sure there are stickys about this in the motor swap forum.

stick with this one until i can afford a 96-97 lt1 stlye ram air hood. On these cars i love the look of that hood. Plus, it would have function for my tpi

i did find out the car is a true WS6/l98/g80 car

600 isn't a bad deal at all. If all else fails, it's easily worth over $600 in parts, the wheels alone should be worth around $400. The 91-92 T/A tail lights are worth a good amount too, as is the spoiler.

yah i only know of 1 other gunmetal t/a like mine and hes on this site. I know there are more out there....but i havent seen them.

only thing im kinda bummed out that the car doesnt have a 9 bolt BW rear end and the stock radio is gone

i do want to find a stock cd player for the car...its that or a newer delco from a truck or newer trans am.

finding the 90-92 tpi parts is a nightmare though......i mean its only until spring when i start playing with it then i will have enough money saved up to do the lt1 conversion along with world product sr heads

well, i forgot to tell that one. Guy bought the trans am for 3000. It had a VERY built 355ci tpi motor running the SD setup. The owner before the guy i bought it from had it setup(according to TPIS plans motor wise to run well into 11.80's) But, guy got a divorce before and had to sell before breaking in the race motor. The driveline never would of stood a chance anyways. But the guy i bought it off took the motor and ecu(didnt take harness) and dropped it in his 01 xtreme. Its a badazz motor. So im left with a roller minus engine and ecu(thats it)

the plans are currently to drop my 327 setup in it and running tpi. Then when money is more liquid, im doing a lt1 intake conversion and world product sr head swap. Then, ill be looking in to doping a t56 swap. Then, by summer time ill be re-painting the car the stock gunmetal grey.

BUT for now its stock tpi setup/700r4 mild built

wish i could get a roller 1-piece 355 or something....but im wanting different so 327ci and lt1 intake should be fun

sorry, ive had 2 carb'd 3rd gens and never will go back unless its a full built race car at 1/4 track. Then again ill prolly run a FAST injection BBC setup.

fuel injection nightmares of tuning and such are SO MUCH better than carb. Carb is dying thing and hope it dies out all the way. As much as i love my edelbrock 750cfm carb on my lifted 4x4 454bbc truck.......id go mpfi if i could.

and the 600cfm holley on my 85 trans am is great but it has its drawl backs
