Re: Who else has a 1992 Firebird Base??
Is it really considered a true "base" vehicle if it has the 5.0TBI instead of a V6? Just wondering.
Re: Who else has a 1992 Firebird Base??
Yes
Birds had multiple trim levels and to go above the base you had to get the Formula, TA, or GTA. A base is a base whether its LO3 with power everything and an optional leather upgrade or V6 non-AC with manual everything
Sort of like the 88 IROC that could be had with the LO3. You cant have a base IROC even though base model RS' could be had with the same option. The IROC would still be a full fledged IROC with the LO3 and the RS still a base with the LO3
Make sense?

I have a '92 base Bird 305 TBI 90% original down to the date coded hoses. Have had mine for 12 years and have never seen a twin of mine, including 4 years of Firebird only shows.

Re: Who else has a 1992 Firebird Base??
Can't be a "twin" if it's a different color.....LOL That is what I am saying. I have seen green, blue, white, etc ones like mine, but never a red one with a 305 TBI, auto, gold 15X7's, t-tops, and tan interior. I actually did see one just like mine once, BUT it only had a V6, so not a "twin". See what I mean now?

Re: Who else has a 1992 Firebird Base??
It may not tell you exactly, since not every car is in their database, but go to www.compnine.com and plug in your VIN, then scroll down past the RPO breakdown to the "rarity" section. They have a database of GM VINs indexed to RPO numbers, and can give you an idea of how many cars exactly like yours there were. Of course, it may give you a false sense of how rare your car is. My car is ostensibly the only one with its exact options (that they know of), but there are surely others almost, if not exactly, like it.

I bought a 91 base for the parts and that is all that is left of it now.

Re: Who else has a 1992 Firebird Base??
I stripped the entire car and the shell was scrapped. The complete wiring harness and the dash and some other parts will live on in my 86 ws6 T/a. The spare t-tops were nice too.

Mine was a base when I first got it, but it's far from that now.

Hey cool, your car is similar to how I plan the 86 to look when done.

I think he's just poking fun at the term "base" when it obviously has at least one option (the v8 over the v6). Base != stripper model in this case.
