1987 Trans Am WS6 - New Addition
Just picked this up in the hopes of getting her on the road soon. Body and floor are pretty clean and show no holes (thankfully). Only 113,000km (70,000mi) showing.
1987 WS6 Trans Am. - 9 bolt 3.27 - 700R4 - LG4 motor - PW, PM, Pdl, P-hatch, AC, Cruise, this thing is loaded!
Just picked up a Magnaflow exhaust, 4th gen front reats, NOS dashpad and repainting the rear spoiler. Some interior and door panels are at my place getting cleaned up.
Still need to redo the brakes and change out the brake lines.
What do you think?

Re: 1987 Trans Am WS6 - New Addition
Thanks. Color is Med Blue Met and does stand out in the sun.
Window trim area is clean (no rust bubbles) plus the doors and lower gfx area show no rust.
Just needs a clean and tune. Runs smooth at the moment and no signs of smoke.

I don't think I would have paid more than 2 grande. Especially since it's just a t/a.
Great little project for you though! I dig the two tone, ditch that gay pin stripe above the gfx though.

Re: 1987 Trans Am WS6 - New Addition
Spent some time putting in new rear brakes and emerg. brake cables. Found out the pass rear caliper was shot and need to get it rebuilt.
Noticed the drivers side pads looked a lot better than the pass side. Had to fight like crazy to remove the bolt that holds the lca in place so we could drop it in order to remove the bolt on the back of the caliper. Guess the last brake job was drivers pads only!!
I guess the last owner decided to paint the underside silver for some reason.

Shot of the the floor pans. Nice and clean!

Pool table taken over again with car parts! Everything will get a good cleaning before going into the Trans Am.

Re: 1987 Trans Am WS6 - New Addition
Well the Trans Am is finally finished and ready for plates. Spent yesterday finishing off the little jobs; install fan relay, FREE wiper bottle and pump (thanks 6six6
), rear spoiler and stereo (gotta have the tunes).
My mechanic had an almost new Pioneer head unit laying around and wiring harness for 87 and lower GM. I took them off his hands for a coffee and lunch.
Head unit has input jack, USB ports and new remote!
Toasted the old 6x9 speakers (RIP Kicker). Picked up some new JVC ones. Good enough for now.
Realized the tail lights worked but the 4 ways and indicators didn't. checked the relay and fuse and found out the fuse was missing.
Also had to rewire the fan delay relay as the last owner installed a manual switch rather than fix the problem.
Now the second fan kicks on at 180 degrees.
Also replaced the rear siezed caliper that caused me no end of problems.
Door panels and rear seats cleaned and ready to be installed as well as the new dash pad. Friday will be a detail day. Might replace the 4th gen front seats with the blue racing ones I have.
Car now runs like a champ now. She'll be ready to drive next weekend.
The old factory wrap around spoiler was rotted underneath and had to be tossed (more rust than metal). Traded a used LT1 cam and spare 16" rim I had in the garage for a formula spoiler!!
New FREE spolier installed (thanks again Marcel
)

Engine finished. Now just needs a cleaning.

My mechanic installing my FREE Pioneer stereo. My helper is "helping"

Car came with no rims so I put the IROC rims on her since I had a set in the garage. My 89 IROC is now on jack stands.

Re: 1987 Trans Am WS6 - New Addition
I picked up the car Thursday and brought her home. Spent yesterday cleaning and reassembling the interior. Its amazing how good the car looks considering all I did was give a clean at the coin car wash
The old cracked dash was tossed and a new one installed. Makes a big difference. The door panels vinyl and carpet inserts were cleaned and fit like a glove.
3 hours were spent just cleaning the interior. I went through an entire bottle of Mothers Protectant, scrub brush and two rolls of paper towels!! It took 30 minutes just to vacuum everything. The seats also got a stem clean
Still a few little things to do like pick up a fog light switch, install the back seats and redo the headliner. These will be done in the next month or so. Overall I'm very happy. She purrs like a tiger and pulls hard. Off to the show today to spend some time with friends and enjoy the drive to the show. Oh yea, the radio works great.
Here is how she looked when I got her home.

Interior reinstalled and cleaned

Outside washed. Looks pretty good.

She's definitely a keeper. You might want to treat some of those rusty spots on the floorboards with "Rust Bullet". Other than that, it's a nice clean car!

Re: 1987 Trans Am WS6 - New Addition
Time to get the interior finished off.
Took the old headliner down to New Image in Scarborough. Sinister has his interior there as well getting redone and updated.
The headliner I got with the car was in pretty bad shape. No material on a bare backing. The new headliner came REALLY nice, redone in the factory gray.

It'll get installed when I find a new interior lamp and some time.
The front speaker (yes I only have one) finally crapped out. Guess the Pioneer deck was to much power!! I picked up some Aura home drivers (3.5") and a set of Pioneer tweeters.
I fabbed up a plate, cut some wire and reconnected everything. These things really shine.
