BRAVO! i really like the 2 tone interior, majority here probably won't but its not like all the other TA's i've seen. Also Pontiac, they built way better looking cars from the other GM models. they also had the cooler gagits too..i.e Steering wheel controls, digital displays just cool stuff

I had a new shifter boot made by lethalinteriors(covergirl).she did a great job on it,way better than them cheap@$$ vinyl ones on ebay. Also had my shifter and ebrake handle done, still waiting for the shift handle.I'll let you know how well he did when I receive the shift handle, did a great job on the brake handle though.
Got a response from Phoenix and they are going to replace the lower fad dot decal but it was a very unusual response.
this was the 1st
"This is the nature of the clear vinyl decal over white paint...not seeing a problem here. There is an ever-so slight discoloration but this is totally normal. I think the car looks great!"
But that wasn't going to fly,so I asked them to send me a new fresh roll of the decal material and this was their 2nd reply.
"Peel off the stripes and return them, I'll exchange them for you."
I thought that was a mistake and I responded"are you serious, you want me to send back a ball of trash in the mail".I mean they already seen the pics I emailed them, they said they appeared Yellow. So this was their 3rd response,
"Yes, that's what I'm asking. I feel its a fair request in exchange for a new stripe kit. Please send them to:
Phoenix Graphix
RA #129153
400 S. 79th Street
Chandler, AZ 85226
Thank you, your car looks great!"
So now I have to peel off the Fad Dot,(hopefully not the new paint)mail them the trash, to get a new strip kit.I guess they just think I am trying to get one over on them, just a very odd request.
My blue fade stripes were old dried up 2 part crap too, their response was I did not clean the surface or apply them properly, the letters and sail panel birds were ok though,I should have kicked them harder, like you said, the guy on the phone didn't seem to want to be bothered.

I didn't know these were available for the TA's,I knew you could get them for the Chevy's.I'm thinking of installing these myself instead of taking it back to the Lettering shop.
Way to go Phoenix Graphix
That looks much better, wrapping the rolled stuff around the corners was not the most fun thing ever.

Car looks awesome though,nicely done.
Thanks nhgator,I haven't put these on yet, waiting for the weather to get better.
Well I got my shift handle in and fierolover did a great job on it and the brake handle also.I highly recommend him for anyone considering having this done,Good Job Matt
I thought I was the only one with a car in for paint so long ( will be a year on the 14th) Similar problems with finding parts, but some of the delay is just being stepped over for easier jobs that are a quick turnaround. Every time I see another thread like this I get a little more jealous and aggravated with the shop. Envious, but still happy to see another 3g brought back to it's former glory. Beautiful car Manta, good luck in COTM.
Let's go, Mountaineers!

This was June, 2012. It's getting sprayed next week. Lol
It takes a long time when working in spare time with 2 kids!

Thanks Joe Tag,I had no choice,(getting stepped over)I kept getting crap shipped to me.At least they kept it inside for the time it was there and let me work on it and use there lift to do other things.
I picked up a nice set of ACC Floor Mats less the GM Logo,so I got a set of Logos from one of the members here.
They were Gray and had the old glue on the back,so I cleaned them up with some Goof Off,it softened up the glue where I could just peel the old glue and fiber off
Then I gave them a coat of Carmine Interior Spray Paint that I had gotten mixed from BAPS Paint Supply in York PA,waited about 20 minutes and did a second coat.
Then I applied a fine coat of DAP Contact cement witch is for Fabric and Rubber,
After I was finished with the Glue I picked up one and it fell into a 2" hole (swiiish) didn't even hit the sides, right in the hole,I couldn't do that if I tried.
I couldn't get the logo out of the hole,it's about 2' deep,I tried but I didn't have my shop vac available,so I had to take one off my original mat set.
So after I cleaned that one up,I attached them to the mats and took them in the house and placed a kitchen chair on top of the logos and let them stand for about an hour. And here is the end results.
Nice!
I have prepped my logos about 1 year ago, but haven't yet glued them on the new mats...
I was going to shave some of the carpet, but when I had to remove one from my set,I noticed they were just glued to the fabric.Just make sure you don't overload the glue, just a nice light coating, you don't want the glue to ooz out the sides.
Today I finally got around to putting my new lower Fad Dot stripe back on.They were pre cut so I gave it a shot and did it myself.Turned out better than I thought.

Yes,the Wraparound Spoilers in 86 were Black only.
Your car looks awesome with the tint,I was thinking about doing it,but I'm not sure if I really want to.If I do,it will be real light.

Not really,I used this stuff called Slide, and it makes the decals real slippery until they get placed right where they need to be,then you squeegee the heck out of them until all the Slide is removed, then trim off the excess decal.
Beautiful restoration. So nice to see someone keeping it stock and original! I think these cars are too frequently carelessly modded and tarted up. Kudo's for not only keeping the original style stripe kit, but keeping after PG to get it right!
Even better that you are from NJ! If you don't mind saying, which shop did you use? My car is in dire need of a resto.
Hey,thanks Dan,I used a local shop in Deptford,AJ Auto Body.Where in Jersey are you located??
I am in Northern Central, NJ (Warren). Good to know there are some thirdgen friendly shops around. Nice to hear they took the initiative to locate the correct original fenders rather than just use the repros'. I hope to catch up to your 86 in person at a show one of these days.
Was the GM "chicklet" a factory item on both front floor mats, as you recreated here?
I picked up a well used / faded set of mats recently. They are probably beyond saving / using, so I bought them, really, just to get that silly little rubber logo for future use.
But this set only has that logo on the driver side mat. The passenger side does not have one, nor does it appear to have had one, thought it's a little hard to say because of their condition.
I couldn't believe it,I left the protection layer on for 3+ months.I didn't know they had that on them
That's what happens when you don't READ THE DIRECTIONSNow they look the way their supposed to.
