Just updating this thread, redid the wheels this summer,I used the leftover paint from the paint job,so the wheels are color coordinated with the car. When I first did these a few years ago I think I used like 6 or 7 Dupli Color spray bomb 8 oz. cans 8554,this time I mixed 3 oz.paint,3 oz.hardener,3 oz.of reducer in this kit that a can of air screws on the top of a jar,I only used 9 oz. for 4 wheels,it's a great system for touch ups.
I'm currently working on restoring the taillight lenses,not finished yet,waiting for Eastwood's 2K AeroSpray™ High-Gloss Clear
These have been sanded and buffed, going to clear coat them so I don't have to keep taking them out for refreshing.
Very sweet 86. I always loved that interior/exterior combo.
On another note about the stripes... I ordered a T/A in 85, Bright Blue Metallic, Aero Wing, 305 carb. It had the fad dot stripes. I went to the car wash before a Friday night date and it blew the stripes off the drivers side! Silly me, GM replaced them no charge!!!
Yeah, I'm sure it was a lot of work...that's why I asked.
You polished the lip on your wheels, like Luis did with his TTA, right? Think I remember you posting in his old tread?
Yes,I did what Luis did but his came out much better,I did them over a few times and their getting there.

Glad you got it worked out!
Thanks Bob,appreciate it,Yes you can blow those decals off in a heart beat at a car wash, glad the Dealer replaced them for you
Looking Good!
Now to keep those wheels looking good in all those spaces, check out Hydr02 - a spray on sealant that works great for wheels (lasts 3 months per application).

Sadly I've found most restoration parts are not the same
Got my spare set of Tail Lights back today.I had the shop Tint this set, don't know if I'm going to use these or sell them.Do I use them or sell them?what do you guys think?I know Hawks is getting almost $300 for just the L/R Lenses.
Funny, I've very seriously considered a complete replica of one side of my car to mount on the garage wall. Just like if you sliced it off at the fender from nose to tail. I have almost all of the parts to do it. Quarter panel, sail panel all the way to the a pillar would be the hardest to come up with. (probably cost a good penny too) I just thought it would be a pretty cool way to store/use the buttload of spare parts I refuse to get rid of.

That would look pretty neat, my problem is, I don't have any wall space left

I only tried once and I screwed them up with the clearcoat so I took them over to the bodyshop (2 sets) this set I had them tint them.
I should have just stayed with the sanding and buffing, yjey came out really nice when I did that
I'm currently working on the window motors, so while I have the door panels off I'm lubing the lock rods and actuators and tightening up rattles. My rods have some kind of cover on them, don't know what it's for or what it's called, there in bad shape and dry rotted.
Does anyone know what there called and where can I get some.I looked in the parts catalog,it shows them, but it doesn't list a P/N for it.Here's a Pic of a piece of one.
I had this mess delivered yesterday for my door lock rods, it's not exactly the same as the original mess but it worked well, no more rattles in the doors.
I also replaced the Smog Pump today(froze up) I ordered one from GM Parts Direct yesterday and got a email saying the are discontinued, they gave me a website that might have one(NOS) same thing No Stock, now I'm thinking I have to go to a junkyard, I need this pump, so I gave Auto Zone a call and it was available but it was a special order item, and to my surprise it came in this afternoon. It was rebuilt but it's exact replacement. So you guys that are keeping your cars all stock the parts are out there, you just have to find them.
I got it from McMaster-carr,one of our members (lonsal) found it for me.worked out good, you can buy it in 3' lengths.it cost .75 for a 3' pc, and it cost $6.00 to ship.Go figure http://www.mcmaster.com/#5979K81

$6.00? That's outragious!
Just kidding. Can't beat that. Thanks for the link.
It's been awhile since my last post, I had my original steering wheel brought back to life again with the original Graphite Leather and stitching and I have to say they did a heck of a job.
Got a response from Phoenix and they are going to replace the lower fad dot decal but it was a very unusual response.
this was the 1st
"This is the nature of the clear vinyl decal over white paint...not seeing a problem here. There is an ever-so slight discoloration but this is totally normal. I think the car looks great!"
But that wasn't going to fly,so I asked them to send me a new fresh roll of the decal material and this was their 2nd reply.
"Peel off the stripes and return them, I'll exchange them for you."
I thought that was a mistake and I responded"are you serious, you want me to send back a ball of trash in the mail".I mean they already seen the pics I emailed them, they said they appeared Yellow. So this was their 3rd response,
"Yes, that's what I'm asking. I feel its a fair request in exchange for a new stripe kit. Please send them to:
Phoenix Graphix
RA #129153
400 S. 79th Street
Chandler, AZ 85226
Thank you, your car looks great!"
So now I have to peel off the Fad Dot,(hopefully not the new paint)mail them the trash, to get a new strip kit.I guess they just think I am trying to get one over on them, just a very odd request.
My set from Phoenix was also less than desirable, yellowed and de-laminated in about a year,I think they sent me a set leftover from 1985,they were less than helpful about it too.
If I do it again it won't be from them I get the decals.
Thank's nhgator, sorry to here about your experience with them,I caught it right away, they couldn't deny it, but they treated me OK,except the fact that I had to remove the bad ones and ship the trashed one back.
