Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
2 tone cars should have a lower body color painted upper air dam and upper side deflector parts. they are also non textured.
Solid body color cars should have all 4 deflector/airdam parts in textured black plastic.
Of course, some may differ or been replaced through the yrs due to owner taste or with what was cheaper.
On a side note: I have a NOS smooth factory primered center upper deflector for 2 tone cars 4sale.

Edit: Was just looking at this closer, my RPO indicates:
D86 - Paint, 2 Tone (Deluxe)
D98 - Stripe Accent
23U - Maui Blue
23Q - Maui Blue door moldings
R6A - Trans Am/GTA package
WS6 - Special Performance package
W66 - Formula Option
13L - Secondary Exterior Color (Silver Metallic)
1SC - Option Package 03
And I'm pretty darn sure I have the textured black air dam

If you want to sell it, send me a message
For some reason, this shot makes the car look great.
Don't let the picture fool you, she is rough. It has been atleast recleared maybe even painted in some spots. The bumpers are original and faded with clear peeling off in sheets. (GMs frequent pealer program). Has small dents all over the car, large one on pass door and if you look at the rear dr quarter it has some issue where someone backed into something and rubbed the side where the body line is. Notice the body line looks raised? it is. LOL
As ratty as it is, i'm driving it as is. maybe someday I'll have it painted the way it should be.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
Serendipity, this thread just popped up so I scanned ebay and found this beauty. Sellers partial description:
"all original 1990 Pontiac Firebird Formula in Maui Blue, with a 305 throttle body injection and automatic transmission. The mileage is 116,702
This car has no accidents, 3 owners, paint is all original, except the rear spoiler has been repainted.
The car is equipped with power windows, power locks, cold A/C, power antennae (not working),

This my 88 Formula. Clearly a lighter color than the later years. After 28 years the paint is peeling on all upper surfaces

Hi there,
I vote keep it blue. It's a terrific color, and you don't see it every day. Same color as my 88 Camaro convertible. Maybe I'm biased.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
Bought it from it's second owner in Feb. 2018, 16,350 miles. Spent most of it's life in a San Diego garage. Still had the original tires on it when I bought it. Trailered it back home from just south of Ft. Worth, TX. I still have the original wheels/tires that came on it, along with everything else I have removed/replaced (Hooker headers/y-pipe, exhaust, swapped 2.73 for 3.23 posi, replaced air bag steering wheel with restored T/A wheel, etc.) Pretty sure it's never seen snow/salt; probably very little rain. The only rust I've found was in the distributor!

Not sure where the bio info came from as I never completed one. The car is an 89 built in late 88. I purchased the car in late 89 and have owned it 29 years. It's a really nice 10ft car. Everything on it besides maintainance items and tires are original. It needs a repaint because the hood and roof are faded. It is as clean underneath as it is on top.The only changes from stock are some mild bolt on engine mods and I polished the wheels.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
Thanks. Just turned over 17,000 miles on Saturday. I replaced the distributor; next project will be fuel pump/sending unit. Gas gauge is stuck at "F". Figured I would go ahead and replace the fuel pump while I'm in there replacing the sending unit.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
It’s interesting reading all of the posts on the first page here about color differences. Everything I’ve seen posted is what I’ve known to be fact that 88 was different color then 89-later. My 88 however has the 89 color and it’s right on the option tag on the glovebox.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
This is interesting scroll to page, a few pages listed below. Also has other color codes for wheels, trim, stripes, interior.
Look at the foot notes where it comments on production line usage in '88 in the '89 book.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
From the '88 book, 23 is in fact a different color code, but the footnotes from '89 book add to the confusion

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
I had an 89 base model with every option except 8 cylinders and leather. The paint was called "Silver Blue Metallic" At 19 years old, I questioned where the Silver was in the paint. I didn't have the silver stripe on the bottom and I have yet to see one with the black cloth interior. Just my .02.
Love this thread, and I will be buying a 3rd Gen in the not to distant future.
