Thanks for the information LiquidBlue. Worst case scenario I'll get a total trainwreck of a Bird and just have the paint and interior redone.
I planned on spending around $15-20K anyway for one in decent condition. If I can get one that needs a little TLC, a quality paint job and interior will cost me about $15k total.
My old 1990 5spd is still available 2 years later from the guy I sold it to out on Long Island for $10,200. He had some paint work done and installed the headliner that I had for it and being I sold it for $8250 he must be at cost on it now or even less. Very good condition car for the money!
Nice ride. The silver on the bottom, is that paint or vinyl/tape/pinstriping? I never knew, and I do prefer the all blue.
Once again, nice ride, great price.

Re: Post your Medium Maui Blue Formula
Personally I like them both ways. Kind of like my Yellow Formula, it had the stripe... When I repainted it I removed the stripe... Looking at it now, I am thinking of putting it back on...
Here is a question...has anyone ever seen a maui blue formula with the tan/beachwood interior? I am not sure I’ve seen anyone do that interior swap. I was just interested in what it would look like with our color of car.
In 1990, only black or med grey. two tone Maui-Blue/Silver units only grey.
in 1991, 5 units came with Camel, 23 blk, 244 in grey
no data on prior years
That what I figured that they only came with greys. I am a little surprised tho that nobody has swapped in a tan interior into a maui/med metallic blue car. I feel like that color combo might look good together. (Could be wrong tho). I just wanted to see if anyone had a photo of it.
To be technically correct, I dont believe there was ever a medium "Maui Blue" color offered on a Firebird.
Someone correct me if I am wrong here, it was never called "Maui" blue by Pontiac
We had some unseasonably cool weather the past week, so I took advantage and finally did a Griot's polish and wax. I think it's about as good as I can get it, short of wet sanding out any remaining scratches or imperfections. I don't think it looks too bad for 30-year-old paint.
looks great! i thought i had the red -vs- black stripe on bottom figured out. 87-88 black, 89-90 red. now i’m not so sure?
Ha! I pulled a fast one on you there. I'm not a big fan of the red stripe (actually, I go back and forth), so I applied a blue stripe over the red stripe on my car.
Just had new Heating Core put in, exhaust strap replaced...Going to have the wheels refinished. They look rough. Later down the road Redo seats. AC is in major need of work .........not sure on cost or problem.
