Awsome turnaround! I would have kept the same style hood, but I love the overall look of the new car.
Is that the latest Trans Am pewter color?

i havent had the same luck w/ body shops
. Have to take it back to get refixed again b/c they oversprayed the crap out of the car and the ground affects arent put on right! He also did a bad job of buffing the car as well.

nice! did u have the top of the third brake light painted the same color as the body too? i had the same tires as u Yokohama A540s, damn i hated them things! how do they work for u?
Thanks for the compliments guys, I love how it turned out.
The color is GM Pewter Metallic. Everything was color matched with the exception of the inner floor boards and roof. He painted the middle bar inbetween the t-tops and the outer part of the t-tops.
I'll get some underhood shots and interior shots once I get my 98 T/A seats, steering wheel, and megashifter in.

I hate to break it to you... but I think the body shopped messed up, because that is the most odd tone of red I have ever seen as a touch up job.

Wow, I am impressed, and I'm not easily impressed. The front of the frame was all bent up. That is quite some extraordinary body work done on the car. Really nice job there. The color just enhances it. Really outdoes the original red color.

hey man nice car. Have you heard anything back from the body shop guy about my 87 yet? After seeing pics of yours....I'm dying to let him work on mine.
Again everybody, much thanks for the compliments. I'm sitting here right now with a huge grin on my face..
<--- me!
Anyway, for the people that didn't see my other post, the shop that fixed my car just so happens to be owned and operated by an F-bod nut and REALLY hooked me up.
He picked up the car looking like the very first picture and delivered it like the after for $2000. He supplied all the panels and stuff (had an 84 T/A parts car). Only thing I had to buy was a new front bumper cover ($100) and bought a new fiberglass wing from hawks for $425 shipped. So all in all, I have $2550 in it. He does top notch work and doesn't cut any corners. He pulled everything off with the exception of pulling the winshield and doors. He even cleaned all of my weatherstripping from overspray from a previous repaint. :lala: He also works damn fast. He picked it up Tuesday night and delivered it the following Friday (1 & 1/2 weeks for the mathmatically challenged)
3.1EyeCandy: His shop got struck by lightning in a bad storm we had last week and his computer got fried so his e-mail is down. I told him about it when he dropped my car off and he gave me his e-mail and of course it didn't work. So I talked to him tonight and I described it to him and he said it sounds fixable for sure (still wants to see the pics to be on the safe side). He also has a whole other parts car for it set aside.

About the tires, since I've owned the car, I've only really gotten to drive it about 10 days total and haven't really "tested" them
Still got a few bugs to work out but it's a blast being behind the wheel again!

I knew that aerowing looked way to perfect to be original.
There was one on a car at the thirdgen nats and I noticed it right away, the rubber/metal ones from the factory pretty much all look like cottage cheese at this point.
I think that was my favorite spoiler for my car, it has a 91/92 Z28 spoiler on it now as the T/A wing I had was falling apart.
BTW, Nice work! I really like the early T/A hood on there too. One of the local guys here had one on his t/a clone and swapped to the four vent, I kinda liked it better with the earlier hood.

well the thing is these cars can be made to look like it never happened but when you start to look around in the engine bay and stuff its quite obvious, well if you know what to look for. When i was taking apart my dash and console i found way to many screws goen so i started looking aroudnt o see what the guy was taking apart the car for and found too many broke things, right now i'm surprised that my front headlight on my trans am doesn't fly off. There is so much metal bent back in place it started to rust and broke. My point is that if you know what to look for crashes are very evident, in unibodies mainly.

Looks great man!
I like the sleek look w/o side door strips and a non-louvered (formula) hood. I think its part of what makes the car look hot.
Are you keeping the exterior as-is?

like how the rims and 3rd brake light match... did you get them to pain the rims to match? it looks very nice! The formy hood with the gta nose looks great and what i would do if i had a GTA. Its good to see another third gen back on the road, and one that looks that good! good thing you found a good guy, cause many people in your situation could of and have ended up with a not so strait car as it is now. thumbs up to the guy who did it!! Enjoy the new ride man!
Exterior is staying pretty much the same. I really can't think of anything that would dress it up any more than it already is.
Only other changes that are going to be made to the car is the motor. I'm pulling the LB9 and swapping in a 350, and haven't decided if I'm going with a HSR, LT1 intake, or stick with the TPI.

Just a tipp but i say get u some sfc's,wonder bar and stb first. Just so its as tight as it can be it would make me feel better whether it was wrecked or not also if u lowered it will help also since the bumps arent as smooth nemore.
Yeah, that was another thing, I just forgot to mention it. SFC's are a must. I cringe everytime I go up a steep driveway and hear the t-tops creaking... but it did it before the accident.
I'm gonna wait on the STB in case I go with a HSR.
Also, I plan on putting all new PST bushings on the car and some spohn LCA's.

Thanks to your help man, my 87 is going into the same shop yours went into.
If all you people can't believe the job this guy did on 86's car....wait until you see mine. His car took 3 ( I think that's what it was) hours on the frame puller......mine is estimated at 10+. LOL. Long live the thirdgen bird!
