New Member from Canada - 91 GTA

I have just joined the F Body community with this 91 Trans AM GTA L98. The car is in very good shape overall and it has around 91k km, or 57k mi. It's nicely optioned and is a pretty rare combo with black leather. Most I have seen are tan or beige cloth and not leather. I will clean up the car a bit and drive it maybe do some basic upgrades. Currently looking to get some subframe connectors and upgrade the TPI intake.

Other than that that and some exhaust work I am not looking to do anything crazy this year, I have other projects that require attention and this will be a an occasional summer driver since I already have two other summer cars.

I have just got a line on a set of hooker long tube headers and a magnaflow exhaust as well as a possible brake upgrade to C7 Z51 brakes which I might hold on til next year since I believe they wont clear the 16" wheels.

Car will be going in for storage til march or so. For now I will detail the engine bay and the interior to my standard.

Welcome to TGO and sweet GTA. I have a 91 as well and my brother has an identical twin to your car. Did you buy this car in Ontario? I think I saw it on Kijiji a few weeks ago.

There is one for sale right now in Ontario, not my car but asking too much ... my car is originally from Ontario, I am the 4th owner. First owner bought it and parket it for 10 years, second guy drove it on summer days. Third guy sold it to me right after he brough it in from Ontario, at some point I had considered to sell if but now we are keeping it. I dont think I will find a nicer car, most third gens I have seen are beat to death. Canadian weather isnt the ncest to them either

I'll keep posting updates as I go, finally had a chance to put it away in storage ang give it a quick clean, cleaned the inside and reconditioned the leather on the seats. I have yet to start on the engine bay, there is some old grease stuck to the strut towers that is driving me crazy, not sure what the best way to tackle that would be

Thanks it took some work, I was lucky the leather wasnt too dry. Car was kept in climate controlled area most its life so that helped, but the leather wasnt as nice. I had to treat it and bring up some of its oils to make it look nice. I still have to work on the driver's bolster which is a little worn. I want to bring the car up to new like condition. This will be mainly a show car and cruiser and want to make sure it looks as nice as possible

Re: New Member from Canada - 91 GTA

I have an identical 91 GTA . Red / black leather interior. Has a 305 in it though but was rebuilt and less than 10000km on it. Unfortunately mine had sat since 08 and not ran so it needs paint and same as you , leather reconditioning . It also has 450000 km original km on the car but you wouldnt think it lol . I got it for 1500 . All original still . I am hoping to do the same as you and get it to show car condition. The only change I did was I went with a 7 inch wireless car play deck and new speakers amps and subs . Other than , leaving it bone stock . Nice looking car .

I brought my Ontario Camaro to Edmonton a few years back. An out of province inspection was required. Have you considered that as you move forward?

Beautiful car, always love the styling of the '91/'92 Trans Ams and GTA's. And being they only had that styling for 2 years it makes it really a rare sight on the roads.

It's always the weekend before Labour Day weekend, this year August 23-25. Dayton Ohio. A bit of a haul for you... although there are guys that travel pretty far every year... Texas, North Dakota have regulars...

I certainly will be. They've had it at the same place for a while, it always ends up being a good turn out. I have a GTA so I won't be "in" it but I'll definitely be wandering around. You guys better be coming to the Trans Am show in (London I think??) this summer. Last year it was pretty cool but unfortunately got washed out by a down pour.

I've actually never went to the Camaro show, always heard about it afterwards. One of the guys that was huge in it lives here in Ottawa - Hylton. He's out of all F-Bodies now though. Always missed that London show too. I keep saying I'll go but it always gets away on me. Same with a local event close by, Race the Runway, I always miss it too.https://racetherunway.com/

Guess we'll just have to drag you out then.

There was a pretty cool Bandit Run that I went on last year. 40-50 Trans Am's all went for a drive from Etobicoke to downtown, then straight up Yonge St to the highway. It was during TIFF too so the sidewalks were packed. It was a blast, hopefully they do it again this year

I am planning to go. Was there for first time two years ago without a car, cuz I didn't have one. Great time. Planned to go last year but a wedding came up same day. So this year I am intending to go! Say hi if you are there. I haven't been to the TA show here in London, I should go, practically in my backyard and the venue is excellent.

They do a pretty decent job of putting on the show, pretty organized. The judged section has some very fine cars, much nicer than mine. I'll be display only. Hope to see you there.

EDIT - sorry to the OP for clouding up your thread, I'll stop now. I saw mention of nationals and went on my tangent. Apologies.
