Re: Lidquid Blue - recent photos

Awesome pics thanks! pretty much exactly the same as my formula (except trans), even the same tires! - mine needs a repaint and re-decal from sun fading though hoping to do that with my next bonus. Mine has the 'pinstripes' too I think ill get rid of them, yours looks much better without them.

I recall when you were thinking of buying that. didn't notice the pin stripes at the time. never seen a Maui-Blue with pin stripes, and they seem to be pretty rare across the Pontiacs. I'd do a little research on that and see where they came from. Is that a dealer/factory option, or just some guy who decided he liked them. (BTW - those are Firestones on my car)

I think I saw a thread on here recently that said they were always dealer installed - that is what made me less inclined to keep them. I could be wrong though.

Underside looks AMAZING, could eat off those floor pans, nice!

How old are those Firestone tires? I wanted to get those a couple of years ago for my Formula, but couldn't find 'em.

I think 4 years, would have to look to be certain. At least 3 to be certain. Geeze, are we gonna have to start hoarding 16" tires before they quit making them???

I'm guessing they quit selling them a week before I went shopping. The Generals I have, I will admit, drive really nice. I just prefer the look of the Firestones. I actually still have the VR50s that came on the car originally. Not that I would want to drive on them.

I sitting here working on my rear seats - forgot to bolt them back in after cleaning them. just happened to notice my tires are actually BFGoodrich. Not sure where I got Firestone from.

Cleaned the dirt off, but I think that is more or less what is down there. The entire car must have been primer'd, and the color you see is just over spray. Some of the over spray is from the silver two-tone at the bottom, which is definitely different than the primer.

When you look at the wheel wells, you can see more blue, so I'm sure some of it made its way to the floor pans.

Well, either way, it looks great! I do love a clean, original looking thirdgen. I have never been able to leave well enough alone. I'm always modifying. I suppose if I were to run across a very original thirdgen, in great shape, I would probably be able to fight off the urge to modify. Especially if it was something rare like a Firehawk, or TTA.... That's not usually the way I find my cars, though. Usually I find them missing the motor and trans, and who knows what else....

Trust me, I get torn! One solution I've found to the problem is to have a 510 hp V10 monster parked next to it

That's one really good solution! My dearly departed 90 RS made 640hp at the wheels. I'm building my '89 GTA along the same lines, same ls motor and all. I was pretty satisfied with my RS, and left my other cars alone, for the most part.
