Alternative header treatment?
I'm planning to buy the cheapest headers possible and I don't wanna ceramic-coat them. Also I don't need them to look good and I don't need them to last forever, simply because I'm not gonna last forever.lol
What are some alternatives? Is wrapping a good way to keep away rust?what about high-temp engine paint? Are there any other methods?
Thanks in advance.
Mike

nope wrapping or paint is no good for keeping rust off cheap headers.
A company called Tech-Line makes some do-it yourself coatings that you can bake on in your oven. That might be what you're looking for. I'd say give them a call and see what they say.

Wrap kills headers by trapping water and heat and corroding the header. id just ceramic coat them and be done with it. or you can powder coat them too
www.por15.com
look for por 20 you can even brush it on if you want, not too expensive either.

Thanks for the ideas, fellas. I decided to go w/TES.It seems that TES instals easiest according to my readings of many posts/archives.
Anyway, besides sand blasting is there another, easy way to get the factory paint off?
Solvent of sorts?

I ordered this Por20 stuff. Did you use it yourself? I preped the metal and paited it on(2 coats) It doesn't say you have to bake it. Just that it will cure if exposed to 300-up heat. It should cure from the exhaust heat, I think. But unless it cures to the desired hardness, some might scrape off during install of headers.
I'm gonna call them tommorow but I'd like to know what your experience w/the stuff was and how you went about it.
thanks
