Is This Possible?

Summit sells an item that you put on each header and can convert from open headers or exhuast w/muffler. I am getting 3" exhaust put on so I was thinking of getting that item. First question it says that you weld them behind each header, could on just be welded between the y-pipe and the intermediate pipe. And my last question how do you actually work this item. Do you have to get under the car and remove a slot or whatever, or is there a way that when I am rollin through a parking lot I can flip a switch and have open headers. I know this isn't legal just questions I want to know.

it's just a y sort of arrangement with one side open to the stock pipes and the other with a cover bolted to it, to go to open headers just unbolt the cover and the spent gas takes the path of least resistance out.
