Aftermarket ignition or not?

I have been reading through the achives and there seems to be somewhat of a disagreement on aftermarket igntion. Some people say that on anything but a really suped up engine, expesive aftermarket wires, cap, coil etc won't do any noticible difference. Otheres say that they make a huge difference. What gives? I am getting ready to do a big tune-up on my 86 z and am trying to figure out if I should go with the expensive ignition components. Thanks. ~Arnold

if you're going to be spending the money on stock spec parts it won't cost you much more to up grade to a better coil, wires, etc. if you engine is in good tune and you got et from a track and then switched parts i doubt your et would change much, other that weather conditions. do a search here someone posted a link for crane wires for 80% off. i've never used them but a set of wires for 15 dollars ain't bad. last wires i used were MSDs ,i like the crimp tool they give you, makes profesional quality crimps.
