Defeating the EGR

In addition to removing the smog crap, someone also recommended that I plug the EGR. They recommended using something like a ball bearing to do it.

What is the EGR, where is it, and has anyone done this or have better idea???

I looked at my throttle body and on the front there is a hose connection that comes from an AC/Delco gizmo. I'm just guessing here...

Have you tried Doing A search on the various boards? I found alot of information about the pros and cons of doing this on them.
