Place to paint a car in NJ ?
Hope it's ok if I post this:
I am looking to have my car repainted. I live in Ocean County, NJ. I don't have much money. I am retaining the original color and just want the outside painted (no engine bay, door jams, etc). Does anyone know of a good (cheap) place to have it done (if that's not an oxymoron)? Or do any of you work for a shop that does nice work you can vouch for? I'd prefer some place in Monmouth/Ocean County, but I wouldn't mind driving further. Thanks.

Your best bet for going to Maaco is to prep the car yourself... see my very old message here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...797#post673216 If your existing paint is just faded, but otherwise in good shape (not cracking/peeling/etc), you'll maybe spend $50 doing this.
And if you think about having them add in the "mixed-in-clearcoat" as added protection, STOP! Borrow an extra $75 from someone and have them do a "full wet clearcoat" instead. I cheaped out on that, and got the mixed-in-clearcoat to save $$.
I was rewarded with tons of paint chips in my hood.
A regular clear coat would've just chipped the clear, and not the paint. Also, when I buffed the car, the buffing bonnet (if I used a buffer) or the towel (when I did it by hand) would always come out blue- the paint of my car.
Good luck!!
