What to do, what to do

ok, so the patient im doing the transplant in has a pretty bad condition.. the trans crossmember bolts are broken in the frame. now i will try to drill them out but i dont know if itll work. i have 4 options:
1) drill the bastards out and hope for the best
2) cut out mentioned section and weld in a plate for the crossmember
3) part out car and buy a roller of the same year and options (with no motor or trans and no broken bolts) in as good or better condition
or 4) weld new trans crossmember in

im kinda down about it and dont really knw wht to do

Try drill/work them out.

If that doesn’t work, take a close look, you’ll find that the section that has the threads in it is actually doubled, there is a thicker reinforcement plate inside the rails. I’d cut it out around the reinforcement plate, tack some nuts behind each hole, spray bomb the back/inside with weld through primer and then weld it back in, this time carefully running a bead around the whole parameter of the reinforcement plate, which would make the whole thing MUCH stronger then stock.

Dress the welds, paint it… and no one will be able to tell…

without looking at it i would say get the torches and get an easy out and hope they come out then move on to another step if you still cant get them out. Hell they make subfame connectors that have a cross-member built in if you cant get them out. No reason to part out a car because of 4 broken bolts. Their are many many ways around it.
