What do you guys think about this?

Im getting mixed opinions about this trade deal that was proposed to me.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1599895
its basically my car with a vette body. guy says hed give me 500 bucks with it too. hes coming up this sunday just so we can check each others cars out. i mean i figure itll get much better mileage with the tpi and be a bit more reliable, plus its a vette. but itd probably be a bit slower. id probably lose the spoiler too. just want some opinions. bob will be here with me to check it out to, so well see every inch of it that we need to. let me know.

Re: What do you guys think about this?

im getting so many mixed opinions its so hard to tell. i mean i gotta see it first, and its up to me. but if i get extremes for one side, it might sway my opinion. some people are saying its a good deal, and others think im nuts for even considering it. i just wanna hear opinions from everyone just in case im forgetting anything or looking past anything. a zf6 setup is cheaper than a t56 setup too and ill be 500 bucks towards it. plus the 86 will still be able to get historic tags so no inspection or emissions.

I'm not sure how old he is, but owning a corvette at our age is actually cheaper than a camaro, because not many people our age own them. I just checked a quote with progressive, and the price of insurance on the vette, is the same as it is with my GTI.

Re: What do you guys think about this?

ZZ4 I agree with raveracerx about the insurance but true it may not matter but for any trade consider the facts of if you get body damage what are the costs of finding the parts; vettes are harder to find parts for than a 3rd gen is; besides that you spent all that money on rebuild and mods as well customizations, its your call but I would enjoy having a car with your engine and a t-top. mine is right now at my uncles garage because of carlessness with the cooling fan (not knowing what caused the engine to overheat) the guy did tell me about the transmission so nothing is wrong with that but I am having an engine installed now but it will take a few weeks besides a week my brother will drive it to make sure nothing else is wrong with the cooling or drivetrain. but I did get the car at a good price, he was wanting 1500 but I paid cash so I bought it for 800. So include the price of the engine and misc parts to replace the engine and get the cooling fixed I would saw I paid 1300 in total for the car. The engine I bought was from remington salvage near culpepper and the engine was from the same year as my car an 89 but a caprice.
