Anybody in Richmond have tools to adjust timing on a TBI
I was wondering if anyone in richmond near the west end has the time to adjust the timing on my 89 camaro. I dont have a timing light or crows foot to do the work. I had my brother look at it but end up making it worse. It only idles well and when you put into drive (as well as you have to wait for it to warm up before it actually works right). Besides that he said he retard it and not advanced it and when he did it rough idled (so he claims)
Any info please let me know, I am leaving for a trip to CT by 3p tomorrow and need the engine running right if possible.
Thank you

if he didnt disconnect the est wire (brown w/ stripe) hes making things worse you must disconnect that wire when setting timing

I dont think he did disconnect it, I just disconnected the EGR and it seems to run better without bogging down right now its just limited by the rear end and trans now for power. Everything else runs fine.

I realize you have left for CT already, but you should try to borrow the tools from Advance Auto or Auto Zone. They normally have loaner tool programs. Or better yet, buy your own.

Thanks man, I used to live in spotsy/dead fred city as well as stafford back in 2000 to 2004. But moved back down to richmond because I found a good job but that ended because it was a contract but anyways I might have some help something. I am trying to find a fender for the driver side because when I tired kinda blew several months ago slapped against the fender and knocked it out and I just wanna replace it but the connectors the held the fender in place were sheared off. I know the junkyard up there is selling a fender for my camaro but they are expensive as crap. If I get the fender could ya help me with welding new connectors and replacing the fender? Trying to get the outside looking alittle better. Oh I did remember I was talking a guy that posted a 350 engine on craigslist and he is selling it for 250 and was wondering how hard it would be to adapt a 350 from a 70s model vehicle as long as it was a 4 bolt but I want to keep my tbi unit and put it on the engine. Also I am tryin to get a water pump for the 305 I have in the camaro now its making this horrid rattling noise. I have small amount of tools but it seems that I am collecting tools when I need em. You know how that goes if you dont have it buy and keep it.
I did get the timing corrected a buddy of mine was able to get a timing light it runs better but still has bad acceleration (it takes it a few seconds to get up to speed) would that water pump cause that since everything else has been replaced. also if you hit the gas hard to launch the car it stalls for a second then picks right up. Got any suggestions what would cause this delay. the alternator looks good (getting charge to the battery as well as everything runs fine I dont hear anything from the alternator)

Thanks man, the 89 runs smoothly I just need now to replace the serp belt; I have it (gatorback) but I dont think I have the correct extension or ratchet to loosen the tensioner so I can replace the belt.
